Great Location

Hotel is in a great Location to all Tourist Spots. The staff at Reception Were very very Friendly and more than helpful. Room was very clean and tea making facilities were great to have in the room,
Breakfast was Basic but nice.
My only problems were there is no lift and the spiral stairs were both very dangerous to walk and very noisy when people were walking on them, late at night, Room 401is a nightmare to climb to on a regular basis cause its the attic room also the bed is extremely hard to sleep on
Excellent Locatione for the Old Town.

We stayed at the Hotel by default after a mix up with our original accomadation. We stayed over the New Year 06/07 and experienced several problems. Firstly a plus the Hotel is only a very short walk from the Old Town Square. The down side of this is that it is on a main pedestrian walk way and concequently it was very, very busy and noisy right through to around 04.00am in the morning. When the crowds of drunken revellers disappeared it was only a short period of time before the market that the Hotel overlooks started. The room 201 we had was large but bland with rock hard beds and had a shower only. The staircase to the rooms is also narrow and not easy to negotiate with heavy luggage. Staff were fine, however I would not say the breakfast was in anyway rich. It was a very simple continental buffet. I would not have stayed at the Golden Age by choice and would advise people to look elsewhere in the fantastic City.

The Golden Age is more like a pension or bed and breakfast rather than a hotel. The location was very central in the old city. The only problem with the location is that drunks on the street at night are very loud. However, I would assume that would be a problem anywhere in the city. I didn't notice any bars that were right next to the hotel. The noise came from drunks walking down the streets singing, laughing, and screaming. So I don't blame the hotel so much for the noise. We were there in July so it was too hot to close the windows and like most European countries, there is no AC.
The room was clean and charming. The staff was friendly to us. The only complaint we had with the hotel itself was the breakfast. The bread was stale and the spread was very limited. For this reason I probably wouldn't stay there again.

Spent 3 nights in the Golden Age hotel Prague and NEVER AGAIN. Having booked 3 months prior to our trip we arrived to find that despite requesting a 2 bedroom apartment our party of 2 were allocated a 1 bedroom whilst a fellow traveller on his own was allocated the 2 bedrooms and the manager refused to change the arrangements! The 'breakfast' for want of a better word consisted of dried bread/curled ham/ processed cheese - with no-one around to serve. Whilst we were near much of the Old Town it was SO noisy at night that despite temps of 30C we had to close the window - no air conditioning so the place was unbearable. However, the worst thing about the experience was the rudeness of the manager.(1 member of staff said she was leaving because of his attitude). His arrogance and complete lack of courtesy reduced me to tears ( despite me having travelled extensively) and whilst initially offering us a compromise re a discount, he then denied ever making the offer! The condition of the room didn't resemble the photograph - our carpet was stained, the alternative bed we were offered wasn't even safe for a small child to sleep on and the fridge didn't work. The final quibble came when he insisted we had taken a bar of chocolate and not paid for it! I would strongly recommend you stay elsewhere if you want to enjoy the beautiful city that Prague is.
