The previous reviews gave an excellent idea of what to expect from this hotel. Yes the room (#43) was small (3 large strides from the door to reach the window). Two people could not pass each other, but we were there to sleep only. After all, this is Paris!! Beds were comfortable and the very lively atmosphere from down on the streets (we stayed over a weekend) was shut out nicely by the double-glazed windows. Definitely a one-person-at-a-time bathroom, shower stall curtainless but water pressure low enough that it didn't cause a mess. Thick towels. Certainly enough soap and shampoo because it was replaced every day. Small elevator no big deal. Did not do breakfast as we preferred to be out and about. If you don't mind the action at the very busy Ch?telet-Les Halles metro stop (to reach hotel easily look for Place Sainte Opportune exit - and it's art nouveau!) this is a great location for a late arrival from CDG airport since it is a straight run on the RER B line. Staff helpful. They will book a restaurant table for you and let you keep your luggage at the hotel until you leave.

If you are willing to pay the premium prices and take some of the inconveniences, the location of this hotel over the Chatelet metro station and close to major sights as well as the Seine makes it an absolutely ideal place to stay. The hotel is clean and the amenities ok. However, travelling in a couple, I stayed here in a standard room which was small even by Paris standards. We did have a walk-in closet, and could get our luggage out of the way, but two people could nevertheless not walk around comfortably at the same time. Access to the bathroom was partially blocked by the bed. This is not the option if you aspire to a bit of comfort as well as ease of exploring the city. We also found the front desk staff - who are otherwise friendly and helpful - unable to cope with the (expected) circumstances of a transport strike which coincided with our visit. Rather than advising us to take the airport shuttle trains as early as possible, they assured us that taxi reservations were in order for our departure. This was not the case, and we ended up scrambling for the last available shuttle to make our flight. Not the easiest thing to do when you are carrying luggage, and certainly not the best way of ending what was otherwise a very plesant stay in Paris.

Nice place, the perfect location right in the middle of everything. Welcoming staff and the rooms are clean. But: the heating was out of control (nearly steaming in the room) and when showering you couldn't help flooding the bathroom. Minor nuisances. The big nuisance was when I realized that my 60 giga video iPod was no longer in my room. It was there, in the closet precisely, in the morning. No longer there in the evening. I told the management and they replyed that it was impossible, maybe I just misplaced it. Of course I didn't, and ended my holyday without my iPod. They did not even take one eurocent off my bill, or atone for the inconvenience in any other way: they simply denied it. I will not visit this place again.

We would highly recommend this hotel for a long weekend break. We will be back to stay.
