Stayed one night in a single room in this very basic hotel. The staff were very friendly and the room was reasonably priced...for Geneva! It is about 3 minutes walk from the train station and is about 3 minutes from the lake and and a great view of Jet D'Eau. The room was unfortunately non-smoking and contained practically nothing apart from a bed, tv and wardrobe. It was also insanely warm and the heating was unresponsive. You share a bathroom and toilet which was a bit of a pain in the mornings. No coffee/tea facilities though at certain times you could get these (and a smoke!) down at the small cafe bit next to reception. You also get a free travel card from the hotel which allows you travel on buses etc. which is handy if your here for a few days. OVERALL: A one night stay is ok and handy for the train station but it is quite a dated hotel

I recently took a trip to Geneva for a long weekend. The best thing about this hotel is its location; it's just a few minutes walk from the main train station (Cornavin). Most of the main tourist spots are easily within walking distance as well. For a city as expensive as Geneva, the St. Gervais is a real bargain (my single room was around 100 swiss francs/night). The rooms are fairly small and come with pretty basic ammenities, but I was still satisfied overall. The staff was very friendly too.

I gave it an above average rating, because it's one of the cheapest hotels I know in Geneva, it is walking distance from the train station, main bus/tram stops and the commercial center. Breakfast is simple but good. The hotel is small and cozy. If you are an uncomplicated traveller and not looking for much luxury, it's perfect. The only word of caution I would make is to make sure your room is booked in the main hotel building. They also have rooms in a side building where I stayed once one night - AWEFUL - beds not comfortable, very noisy, simply not nice! Also make sure you specify if you want a room with the bathroom inside the room or shared.
