Año Nuevo en Tossa, tranquilo, pero agradable
Guest name: Anonymous

We stayed in the Diana over New Year. Excellent hotel with unbelievably ornate and spacious public rooms. Bedroom (€66/night without sea view) was clean and spacey with large King Size bed and good sized bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
All car parking charges appear to have been suspended for the winter and we had no problems parking free accross the road on the beach front car park.
Tossa itself was fairly quiet over the New Year period, but there were 4 or 5 restaurants open most night and several bars were open. The Hotel Diana did not have it's bar / restaurant facilities open.
The weather was sunny and cloudless for our stay with daytime temperatures of 15/16 DegC which was ideal for local exploring and touring the district by car. The nights could get cool, but the rooms at the Hotel Diana are well heated.

Overall loved Tossa de Mar but not overly impressed with Hotel Diana.
Hotel Diana has a fantastic location right in the center of town and just off the beach & the interior of lobby of the hotel is beautiful. However the rooms are in dire need of renovations, the hotel is very noisy and there were ants in both rooms we stayed in (in the bathroom in the first room, invaded my clothes in the cupboard in the second room).
We were originally placed in room 105 after requesting a seaside room. This was 1 floor above reception, had minimal views of anything and was incredibly noisy. All the noise of everyone coming back in the evening filtered straight up to our room from the lobby. On a thursday night we were kept awake until at least 1:30am when i stuck my head outside and asked people to quieten down. The bed was only a double bed (our reservation form confirmed a king bed, this one measured 135cm!) and was incredibly uncomfortable and squeaky.
The following morning we immediately requested a room change. The receptionist's english skills were not great so we did not go into detail as to why, but we were told to come back at midday to change to a room on the third floor. We packed all our bags, waited around all mronign to make the change, and at 11:45am she called to tell us she had made a mistake and we wouldnt be changing rooms till the next day. So unpacked, had another sleepless night, and repacked and waited around the following morning to change rooms.
This time got room 304 on the third floor which was an improvement on the last room. Still needs renovating but at least the promised king bed and some sea views. Unfortunately every morning between 5:45-6am a tractor starts up smoothing the sand on the beach adn this woke us up every time! At breakfast I overheard another guest also complainign of a noisy night so it was not just us!
Internet is very limited. The hotel has no computers. There is a wireless service if you have your own laptop but we could not find the prepaid cards anywhere and eventually had to sign up over the net reading spanish. It costs E10 for 24hrs continuous or E5 for 1hr continous. There are internet cafes nearby however.
We were 8 days into a europe trip so had some washign done by the hotel - a big laundry bag of clothes etc washed (not ironed) for 12 euro we thought was reasonable.
I guess overall I would definitely ensure you get a room high up, take some earplugs and some ant spray adn you should be fine!

Un hotel agradable y una ciudad encantadora
Guest name: Anonymous
