Positives: Staff is warm and friendly. Rooms are quiet. Beds are comfy, as were the pillows. For women, they had a hair-dryer and not that hose thing to dry your hair with. Rooms were clean. Location was on the main strip. Easy to walk everywhere. The hotel also has a caf?/restaurant on the property. We didn't eat there, but only because we were constantly on the go and ate while out. Can't say we encountered any negatives. We'd recommend it to our own family and/or friends.

I must say I didn't enjoy my stay in this hotel, nor in Bacharach itself to be honest. I love Germany, especially the Rhine area, and I normally love small towns but this town was very "dead" and almost creepy, with not much to offer and hardly a soul in sight. (My stay was in October, perhaps it is nicer during busy periods?) The hotel itself is very clean and quite nicely decked out, particularly the bathrooms, however the owner/waiter/chef was a little bit creepy. They speak no English at all which is not really a problem (same story in many other hotels we went to), but this was the only place where I felt like they were saying maybe not so nice things to me and then laughing because I didn't understand?? Maybe I'm paranoid! But anyway just make sure you take your printed confirmation with you as it will make things easier checking in. Breakfast was, without a doubt, the worst we had during our 10 week round-the-world trip. Basically bread and warm juice with fruit flies in it. All in all the hotel is clean, quite well furnished, and safe. If you must stay in Bacharach it would be fine. However I would not go back to Bacharach and would choose a larger town when I return to the Rhine.

We stayed with our children (ages 9, 12, and 13) for two nights at the Hotel Am Markt on a trip from Amsterdam, Bruges, and the Rhine river. The Hotel Am Markt was comfortable, spacious and clean. We really felt very at home. Our beds were comfortable and the hotel is quite convenient. What we enjoyed most, however, was talking with Timea, who checked us in and out, and also ran the restaurant. It was great fun for us to try to communicate, with no German, and Timea, with only simple English, attempting with great humor to help us out! The hotel was not as elegant as others we stayed at during our trip, but it was well-equipped, comfortable, and clean-- and had great staff!!! It was also a great value-- about half the cost of our previous accomodation in Belgium, and one third the cost of our first in Amsterdam.

We stayed there for two nights on weekend. Staff was very polite and helpful-they waited for us until 11 p.m. and only after that they closed the door. Breakfast was very good-very fresh bred and all other continental food. Room was clean and was cleaned after first nihgt. We had last floor and it had wonderful windows this fancy view on nice city. I can recommend this hotel, I like it and wish to go back again and again!!!!
