Loved the location but the hotel needs air-conditioning

The location is superb but we had trouble sleeping due to the heat of the room (and that was with the window wide open and no heating ever put on) and the noises in the hotel, e.g. the lifts. If the hotel had provided airconditioning or even fans, it would have been OK. I never imagined we would have such a problem in winter. I probably wouldn't stay here again even though it's an extremely well-located hotel with a good breakfast provided.

The location of this hotel is fantastic...you are literally right on Florida street, a major Pedestrian area, lot's of shopping and restaurants...you can walk to many many attractions from this location...and the subways are also close by.
We were on the 6th floor, our room was outdated and could have smelled a little "fresher"...but when taking the stairs instead of the tiny elevators one day we noticed that all of the floors below us had been renovated, the rooms had hardwood floors, new furniture and paint and key swipe cards...so, when you book ask for a room below the 6th floor until the renos make their way up!
Our room face Florida street and it was noisy, from early morning until late at night...between people and construction, but ear plugs solved that.
The hotel staff were helpful, but not many spoke english very well, adn it's the first hotel I've ever stayed at in the world that refused to mail some postcards (already stamped) for me...and they seemed limited in their ability to help us book some of the things we wanted to do (ie attend a football match) so we just went to a travel desk in a shopping centre.
Overall I highly recommend this hotel for it's location alone...if you can manage to get one of the renovated rooms, even better.

I stayed at the Grand King Hotel with my Gf while travelling to Buenos Aires. We stayed here for 4 nights and after the second night I wanted to Check out early. My G/F suggested we stick it out and this was the worst decision of the trip!
The hotel itself is in a great location, right near the major pedestarian street (Florida) and very close to Corrientes another major street. The main problem is that there were so many noises we couldn't sleep. They were doing construction in the hotel so every morning we would be awakened at about 7am to jackhammering and drilling. Also the HVAC system continually buzzed which was another annoyance.
When I turned on the Air Conditioning to try and fade out the noise, it too made a rattling noise and didn't even pump out any air! When your travelling it is important to get a good night's sleep as we were tired from walking around all day etc.
I would not suggest this hotel until the renovations are completed as it is very loud and put a damper on our trip. If you do decide to go, make sure to bring a set of ear plugs!!

I am a travel agent and took 16 people on a cruise to South America. We had three days prior in BA and stayed at the Grand King Hotel. The price was excellent, $89 night for two, as was breakfast which is included. The hotel is located on a pedestrian street a few steps from the main Florida Street tourist area where you can walk and watch the Tango dances perform at night. Hotel was very clean and staff is great. Jill in Colorado

We can pretty much echo what most travelers have said about the Grand King. We stayed here at the beginning of February after a 2-week cruise. The good things about this hotel are the location - great shopping, restaurants, etc. all within walking distance. The breakfast was very good. The foyer and public areas were just fine. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The problems are that some of the rooms could use a thorough updating, including paint. Our room was a bit threadbare, old television, etc. However, who wants to watch TV when in Buenos Aires anyway. The price was very good and the bathroom was clean, so we were fine.
If you choose this hotel, our advice would be to "upgrade" the room.
