We were quite disappointed with this hotel. Granted, we arrived after a week’s stay in a five star hotel in Mykonos making the comparison all the more startling. We stayed just one night.
First, we had two single beds. I suppose the arrangement is acceptable for sleeping. Second, the bathroom was not particularly clean. Third, the spacious balcony provided two plastic chairs and a plastic table, but the furniture was unusable as it appeared to not have been cleaned in eons.
The neighborhood is not one most guests would care to inhabit, consisting of dingy block apartments. Its nocturnal inhabitants include numerous prostitutes and seedy characters.
Now, for the worst part; my companion and I visited Sardeles for in the Gazi area for dinner, returning to the hotel at around 2:30 AM. We found the hotel door to be barred and locked, which, considering the neighborhood is understandable. There is no way to enter the hotel other than to granted admittance by whoever is responsible to watch the door after hours. Should that individual choose to sleep instead of attending duty, the unfortunate guest is shuttered out on the street with seamier denizens of the Athens night.
We pounded on the door for about a half hour before the dormant doorman could be roused. As no taxis passed, we couldn’t leave to find alternate accommodation. Certainly our situation did not go unnoticed by the locals and the longer our predicament persisted, the more exposed we became in terms of personal security. Luckily, we were not accosted.
In the morning, we checked out. The hotel manager was most apologetic and comped the room.

first time in Athens we took a taxi from the airport and the driver brought us to another art hotel called Delphi. I thought this is not what I saw on the website realizing few minutes later that this was not the hotel we booked! We take a second taxi and finally are infront of this amazing neoclassical building I guess one of the most beautifull buildings we saw in the center of Athens. Our room was spacious even better than i expected from the pictures i saw when i booked, big queen size bed and very clean for European standards. The very fast free Internet access an amazing bonus. I couldn't thank more the staff for beeing so helpfull and easy feeling you can ask them anything . Definitely I will go back to Art hotel .

I am very happy we chose Art Hotel for our stay in Athens. This was the best hotel we stayed in Greece. Great price and value. The staff is extremely well trained to make your stay memorable and help you in any way possible. By our mistake we lost our flight, we where really sad and came down to reception to ask them to book for us the next flight, we found Lizy the receptionist, in 5 minutes she made 5 phonecalls and arranged for us everything even how to take the money back from the flight we missed!!!! We would'nt have the courage to do any of that and I think this is the best service ever! The room was very clean and comfy, flat screen etc, cold mini bar and the breakfast with home-made jams and all kind of choices!!! Deserves the good reviews and his position as one of the best 10 hotels of Athens city.

Location, Comfort & Service in Athens

I judge hotels primarily in three areas: Location, Comfort and Service (and not necessarily in that order).
The Art Hotel Athens was one of several hotels we stayed in before and after a cruise on a four week tour of Europe. The location was excellent, being within easy walking distance of the Museum of Archaeology and the Metro to get everywhere else.
We were very comfortable with the room and amenities. Having stayed in a hotel (Alessandra) in Florence in a MUCH older building, we had no problem here. Hey, Europe is full of old stuff, otherwise we probably wouldn't be visiting! The free internet was a blessing for making our continued travel plans and the breakfast was great. They even invited us to have breakfast on our early arrival, really making us feel welcome.
Which brings me to the most important thing about this hotel: The SERVICE. All three women who manage the front desk went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy. I'd like to especially thank Lizi, a young woman who truly puts her heart into her work.
I would be happy to stay in this hotel again and will should my journeys bring me back to Athens.
Doesn't live up to the website

The pictures on the website make this hotel look modern and sophisticated which is not what we found when we arrived at the hotel. They must have been taken some time ago.
Everywhere looked dated and the room was very pokey and small. The shower was so low down the wall that I had to crouch on my knees to wash my hair.
The corridors are very poorly lit at night and it was difficult to be able to open the door with the key card because we couldn't see where to insert it!
If you are looking for a 4 star hotel I suggest you book elsewhere, in my view this was more like 2 star.
