Let down by the pool staff

This hotel was superior to the Kaos which was the other hotel Riviera Travel used.
Its one big drawback was the swimming pool. The attendants seemed not to be anything like as nice as the other staff and made a massive fuss if you moved a sun bed in to the shade. The pool opening hours were inconvenient and maybe the whole thing was run for the convenience of staff rather than guests.

We enjoyed our stay at Giardino dei Greci...a couple blocks off the beach, easy walking distance from the boardwalk, restaurants and shops. Easy parking. Room was nice...maybe a tad small but had a nice balcony. Clean, cozy room w/ nice bathroom.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of honeymoon trip to Italy. We had a long trip to Sicily from Naples on the train and then checked into this hotel. I had reserved a junior suite, so expected a fairly good room. This was not the case, so we were upgraded to the superior suite, again not much better, but wasn't stuck round the back of the hotel!
On checkout we paid our bill with the very happy receptionist (note the sarcasm!) and left the hotel. We then boarded a bus to Catania, only to find that the hotel had kept our passports! So we had to get off of the bus, walk back to the hotel and ask for those back. The hotel said that this should not happen and it was because we had moved rooms.
My advice to anyone visiting this area ...
1. Stay in Taormina. Its lovely and the hotels there might be a little more, but are definitely worth it.
2. Make sure you get your passports back once checked in
3. Do not stay at the Giardino dei Greci

Un bon séjour au Giardino dei Greci
Guest name: Anonymous
Beautiful place to visit - good value hotel

We have just returned from a five day stay at the Giardino die Greci Hotel, Giardini, Sicily. The hotel exceeded our expectations.
It was modern (built in 2005), clean and comfortable. We had dinner there each evening. There was a varied menu, the food was enjoyable and well presented. The members of staff were friendly and courteous. All in all a good experience as far as the hotel was concerned.
Giardini itself was a little disappointing. It has an air of 'former glories' about it. Maybe it was because we were there out of season but I do not think so. The north side, where the hotel is, was particularly run down. On the other hand Taormina was everything we expected, a real jewel in Sicily's crown. Be sure to use the hotel's free shuttle service to take you to Taormina.
If you like a challenge, as I do, you can walk it. It is only about a mile but it is almost vertical!
