Villa Marsili is a four star hotel very close to the historic center of the Etruscan and Medieval hill town of Cortona. The building originally an ancient 15th century Church was converted into a patrician Palazzo. The recent renovation has allowed the recovery of architectural and stylistic features lost over the centuries. Besides the charm of its history the building enjoys a scenic position and its rooms overlook the stunning landscape of Valdichiana with the Amiata and Cetona mountain; the Trasimeno Lake; the gentle outline of the hills surrounding the city walls and Cortonas steeples and towers. The hall and all bedrooms are finely and elegantly decorated and furnished with many antique period pieces. The same intimate atmosphere pervades the breakfast lounge; the sitting-room with fireplace and our fine outdoor garden terrace. Villa Marsili offers guests breakfast buffet with a rich selection of Tuscan specialties and everyday in the evening you may enjoy a complimentary aperitif. Additional Information; Children age 5 and under stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Children age 6 to 12 pay 20 Euro per night. Children over this age will be considered an adult

All the reviews raved about this hotel and we agree completely. The staff became friends and they couldn't do enough for us. Breakfasts were the best, but the afternoon & evening wine and biscotti were wonderful too. Our room looked out over the Tuscan countryside. A glorious experience.

Stayed here four nights in May, 2008. Great hotel , breakfast buffet, and absolutely wonderful staff. All were great -- Julia, Luana, Stefona, Mierka (we called him "Bear" because he was just so cuddly!) -- they were all attentive, helpful and treated us like one of the family. Best place we stayed in all of Italy! Highly recommend this hotel. Actually learned about the Hotel thru Karen Brown's book for Italy.

I just recently returned from my trip to Italy with my husband and daughter. We stayed four nights on the Italian Riveria which was spectacular. Our hotel on the Riveria was wonderful and the best accommodations I've had to date until...we traveled to Cortona. Due to a last minute change in our plans, we contacted the Villa Marsili just one night before we arrived. I was a little anxious to move to a hotel that I hadn't thoroughly researched, but when I spoke with Julia on the phone I felt reassured. From the moment we arrived, I felt great (for lack of a better word)! Our room was outstanding with a beautiful view. Anything I needed was attended to promptly. I felt as if I was a friend and not a hotel guest. The evening "happy hour" and "night cap" were pleasant surprises. I'm sitting here wondering how to describe the level of hospitality that we received. I don't think that a paragraph can accomplish such a task. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Wow, this is a terrific hotel situately perfectly in Cortona! Can't wait to return. We are a family of four on our first trip to Italy, and we are unaminous in selecting the Villa Marsili as our favorite! of the many nice properties we stayed in. The hotel staff and the property are extremely well directed by Stefano. He, Iulia and the rest of the team are warm, caring, thoughtful, efficient and helpful. Stefano, extremely professional, even personally brought me some items I had left in my room, to our next city which was 40 minutes away in Montepulciano. Iulia, who was extremely gracious as well, made all of our touring and dining arrangements, all of which were flawless. The breakfasts were lovely, and the evening drinks/snacks a nice touch that we did not often see replicated elsewhere. The property, a restored Villa, is located a short walk to town - close enough but not in the "swarm" of tourists. In short, a well run, beautiful hotel that is staff edwith a terrific team. I'd not hesitate in recommending anyone to stay there. It was ideal! No doubt our favorite hotel on this trip and quite possible of any we have stayed in, considering the US and Asia as well.
