Arrived in Lugano with nowhere to stay.!! Saw this hotel on the water front and met friendly receptionist who sold us a lovely room. Hotel old fashioned but good. Very comfortable beds and fab breakfast. Brilliant location

Ein Hotel mit einer sehr guten Lage. Man kommt vom Bahnhof schnell dorthin (mit der Seilbahn runterfahren und dann rechts halten). Es liegt gegenüber von einem Louis-Vuitton-Geschäft, an einem kleinen Platz am See. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit. Es hat mir einen Adapter gegeben und mir auch gesagt, wo man sich Fußballspiele ansehen kann. Und in der Bar wurde mein Glas auch nie leer. In der Bar konnte ich auch nur das einzig verfügbare (ja, nur eines!) Ethernetkabel benutzen, um mit meinem Notebook ins Internet (DSL) zu kommen. Ich musste dort ein paar Stunden arbeiten und bestellte dabei vom verdutzten Personal ein Bier nach dem anderen (warum muss dieser Mann an diesem wunderschönen Abend nur arbeiten?). Es war dort recht viel los und es war dort auch ganz nett, vor allem wenn sie dort am Abend Jazz spielten. Mein Zimmer war zum Platz und zum See raus. Es war klein und hatte ein Einzelbett, in das mein 1,92-Körper reinpasste. Die Dusche war einer mit diesen Handduschen und die Halterung war bequem auf Höhe meiner Knie angebracht. Ich hatte dadurch eine etwas verkrampfte warme Dusche am Morgen. Die Klobrille war aus billigen Plastik, wahrscheinlich irgendwo in China hergestellt. Wenn ich dort privat gewesen wäre und dort Urlaub gemacht hätte, dann hätte ich dem Hotel wahrscheinlich eine bessere Bewertung gegeben, denn als Geschäftsreisender wurde meine Erwartungen dort nicht ganz erfüllt. Daher meine neutrale Bewertung. Ich werde bald wieder geschäftlich dort zu tun haben, dann aber wohl nicht mehr ins Au Lac gehen.

A very well located hotel. It was a quick walk from the train station (take the funicular down and then turn right). It's just across from the Louis Vitton store on the left and across from the Lake itself over a small square. The staff were helpful in getting me a proper adpater for my UK lead, finding a bar for the champions league matches, and in keeping me well lubricated in the bar area. In the bar area is where I found myself using the 1 (yes, ONE) ethernet cable in the whole hotel (no wireless) to connect my computer for high-speed access. I had hours of work to complete and the continuous flow of beers from the bewildered bar staff (why is this man working on such a beautiful evening?). Couples came and went and it looked like a nice spot to return when they have jazz in the evening. My room looked out across the square and on to the lake. It was small with a twin bed to fit my 6'4" frame. The shower had one of those detachable hoses that conveniently had a hook at the level of my knees. This resulted in a somewhat cramped, but efficient hot bath in the morning. The toilet seat was a lovely piece of cheap plastic hand crafted in some chinese factory. Had I been on a private holiday and had booked this for location purposes, I may have given a higher rating. As it was, my needs as a business traveller were not quite met. Hence, a neutral rating. I'll be back on business again and most likely will not find myself at the Au Lac on the next trip.

Das International du Lac ist ein sehr durchschnittliches Hotel. Sind die Zimmer sauber? Ja. War der Service gut? Ja. Die Zimmer waren aber auch alt und es gab kaum Extras. Es war so alt, man musste die Zimmertür noch mit einem altmodischen, großen Metallschlüssel aufmachen. Ich hatte immer das Gefühl, dass ich immer meinen Koffer noch abschließen müsste, wenn ich das Hotel verließ. Das Hotel liegt gegenüber des Louis-Vuitton-Ladens und nur ein paar Schritte vom See entfernt. Wir hatten uns für dieses Hotel wegen den günstigen Preises entschieden. Es liegt gute 10 Minuten vom Bahnhof entfernt, den man über eine Kopfsteinpflasterstraße erreicht. Es liegt in einem schönen Viertel, nahe vielen Restaurants und Geschäften. Das Frühstück war auch nur durchschnittlich. Es gab frisches Brot, ein wenig Obst, Salami- und Käsescheiben, hartgekochte Eier und ein paar andere Sachen. Keine große Auswahl. Es hat sich nicht gelohnt, dort zu frühstücken. Dieses Hotel war definitiv auf billig ausgerichtet. Ich kann es Leuten empfehlen, die nicht die hohen Zimmerpreise in Lugano zahlen wollen. Man bekommt aber, was man bezahlt und dass ist nicht viel.

The Hotel International du Lac is an extremely average hotel. Are the rooms clean? Yes. Was the service good? Yes. However, the rooms were old and there were very few amenities. It was so old that the key to open our room door was an old fashioned large metal key. I felt I had to lock up everything inside my suitcase before I left. The hotel is situated across the street from the Louis Vuitton store and steps away from the lake. We chose this hotel for the lower price. The location from the train station is a good 10 minute walk through cobblestone streets. It is situated in a good part of town near all the restaurants and shops. Breakfast was also very average. It consisted of fresh bread, a few fruits, salami and cheese slices, hard boiled eggs and a few other items. Not much to choose from. It was not worth buying. This hotel was definitely a hotel more on the budget/economy side. I recommend it to people who are concerned about the high price of hotels in the Lugano area. However, you will get what you pay for which is little.
