Typical HGI, but very good

This HGI is typical of many other HGI's, but I found everything to be excellent about this property. Check-in took about two minutes and I was on my way to the room. The room itself wasn't anything different than other HGI properties, but was clean and well decorated. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly with directions and other information regarding Old Market. This is an excellent location for access to Old Market (about a 5 minute walk) which includes TONS of restaurants and shops. There is also a Spencers Steak and Chops restaurant within the hotel. I didn't eat there, but the menu looked really good! The only minus to the property is the $9 charge for parking in the garage, but that's really not a big deal as it is typical for most downtown hotels. Overall I was very pleased with this property and if my travels take me back to Omaha I would definitely stay here again.

We were in Omaha for the Olympic Swimming Trials and stayed at this hotel for eight nights. It was wonderful. The staff was delightful, very clean, beds were very comfy. The breakfast was fabulous and the location was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again if I am in Omaha.

This hotel is located in a perfect area of downtown Omaha. It is just steps away from Howard Street (Old Market) and near many wonderful restaurants. The workout room is adequate- at best. If you're looking for a five star hotel- this is not it- but if you're looking for a clean hotel with helpful staff- choose this one.

We decided to take a weekend trip to Omaha. We wanted to stay somewhere nice, but not completely expensive! We loved the Hilton Garden Inn. Our room was very clean (and I am always inspecting rooms with a fine tooth comb), and the bed was very comfortable. My husband even commented that it was the only time staying away from home that he got a great night's sleep. I loved the fact that everything looked very modern and had a "new" smell. It was very handy to have a mini refrigerator, especially when traveling with a toddler. Another big plus, is that we had no noise from other rooms. The bathroom was also spotless with an abundance of hot water. We did not utilize the hotel's restaurant, but we enjoyed the fact that it was so close to many Old Market restaurants. We ate at the Upstream Brewing Co and everything was delicious! The hotel does have a shuttle will take you anywhere within close proximity and we did use that. I did think the breakfast sounded a little pricey ($10 per adult) The food did look delicious, but I prefer to eat a light breakfast, so it might be nice if they had another option. The staff was extremely courteous. On the second night of our stay at 2:30 am the tornado sirens went off, and the staff was helpful in assisting people to get to the designated area. Luckily everything was fine, though! We also enjoyed the fact that we were just a short drive away from many attractions, like the zoo. We will definitely stay here again!

Pardon the pun, but the Hilton Garden Inn is truly a "garden variety" hotel. We stayed one night in this hotel and won't stay again. I've stayed in Hiltons elsewhere and had much better experiences. Maybe it's because it's a "Garden Inn," but everything from the decor to overall quality was poor. Perhaps these are the watered-down versions of Hiltons elsewhere.
Why the poor review? First, everything is just very basic here. There is nothing to set it apart from a Holiday Inn Express where we could have stayed for much less and at least known to expect mediocrity. The decor lacks sophistication and reminds me of an old-fashioned Howard Johnson's. Furniture looked like it was bought at a fire sale.
I would have been alright with that, but non-stylistic problems marred our stay. Our room had an extremely loud HVAC system that made continuous noise all night long, even after we attempted to turn it off. Bathroom amenities were unmemorable. Worst of all, the bed was not good. We were looking forward to sleeping on one of the famous Hilton beds that you can buy off the TV in other Hiltons, but the mattress and the linens were completely unmemorable. I don't recommend a stay here. Perhaps the other Hiltons in Omaha are better.
