My husband and I have had positive experiences staying at Hawthorns in other cities, so when I searched for one in Oklahoma City (while returning from Houston) I was quick to reserve a room at this location. Big mistake!!! I wish I had known about Trip Advisor.com and read the reviews of this hotel prior to staying there. The first room we were assigned, the ceiling had substained water damage from a leaky air conditioner which was not cooling the room. The room also smelled foul. After complaining to the front counter clerk (who was not at all happy with his job there, talked negative of how run down the property is and he plans to quit his job) concerning the condition of the room, we were assigned another one. This room the air was working but it made noise all night long keeping us awake. Lights were not working, trash every where on the gound, vents were taped to the ceiling, bugs, very very run down. On a positive note, the woman managing the breakfast buffet was very pleasant. For a Hawthorn, we were very disappointed, this property gives them a bad name. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

As a group we booked 9 rooms for 6 nights. 5 rooms had to be swithced because of faulty air conditioning. 1 room had black light lettering on their wall that read "Im watching you". Several rooms were "overlooked" for cleaning. Several rooms smelled of an "old person" odor. There was a broken beer bottle in the bottom of the hotel pool. 1 family in our group actually believes that the hotel was Haunted. We all heard a gunshot in the middle of the night (our last night to stay). Never the less, we all checked out 1 day early. I wouldn't stay there again if I was paid to do so.
*this is the first review that I've ever left.

We were looking for a mid priced suite hotel, for our stay in Oklahoma City. Having stayed at a few Hawthorn suites before, although it had been a few years, I booked us into the Hawthorn Suites in Oklahoma City (near Penn Square mall). Be aware or should I say beware. they are going through a remodel. The restaurant and bar are closed. From the looks of things for quite some time, if they ever reopen. They did not have my reservation. I had booked the rooms on the internet instead of direct. this was no problem since they had rooms left, but if it had been full this could have been a real issue. In fact they did not have the queen suite I had reserved, but gave me the king suite for the same price. It also says "full" cooked to order breakfast, but was really a contenintal breakfast set up in the old bar. I will say that they seemed to be trying hard to make guests as comfortable as possible. If economical rooms are what you are looking for this place is ok, but if it's fancy you want, I would stay away.

Next time I will stay at the Marriott Residence Inn across the street

We picked this hotel because it was near my mother's house in OKC. What a mistake.
The furniture was rickety. Only one TV remote worked.
The carpet and walls were in need of replacement and repair. There was nail polish on countertops. The free wireless internet that was promised never worked, despite several calls to the front desk speaking with a clueless college student (my computer was working just fine).
They put us on the ground floor of a building, meaning there was a glass patio door at the rear of the suite. The glass had not been cleaned properly in so long there were milky streaks of mineral deposits all over it. This seemed to be the case for all of patio doors I observed.
The bathtub had a huge chip on the rim that was very unattractive.
The room was startlingly dark for some reason, even with all the lights on and curtains open.
Overall, dingy, ugly and in need of a major remodeling.
This all would have been fine if the price had been in the $50 to $60 range. We paid somewhere in the $70 to $80 range. For that kind of money, or slightly more, we could have stayed the new and lovely Marriott Residence Inn suites across the street on the Northwest Expressway.
Won't make this mistake again.

We stayed here on March 24 and 25 and will never stay there again. The room had an odd odor (we went to walmart for air fresheners), the mattress on the sofa bed was ripped and the support at the foot of the bed was broken, The furnishings and walls were marred and worn. The door to the bathroom closed with much difficulty. However the night of the 25th was the worst. There was a large loud party in the room next to us. We contacted the front desk. When we heard no improvement, we called them again. Their response was that they had called the room and no one answered, so they weren't going to do anything else. The violence escalated, so we called 911. The police arrived and it calmed down. Then the volume increased as did the violence. We called the front desk twice, they didn't answer. We called 911 again, the police came and they were evicted. The front desk never called us, the morning clerk knew nothing about it, and repeated e-mails have never been responded to. A convention was in town, so it was impossible to get a room at another hotel.
