hotel de l'avenir is a jewel of a 3-star hotel...located on a narrow residential street in a charming neighborhood in the 6th arrondisement just 100 meters away from jardin du luxembourg, the most beautiful city park in paris...it is a small hotel with about 30 rooms on 6 floors but the hotel is big on comfort, convenience and courtesy...the staff is uniformly gracious, hospitable and friendly...they all speak english but are genuinely french...there is a computer with internet access in the lobby...the rooms have recently been remodeled...the beds are so comfortable and the rooms so quiet that i rarely awoke before noon...the showers are rather cramped but more importantly have plenty of hot water...i have stayed in the hotel for at least a week every year since 1990...and i look forward to returning to the hotel every year for many years to come.

Hôtel très bien situé au calme près des jardins du Luxembourg. L'accès aux chambres montre des signes de vétusté. Petit ascenseur. Notre chambre très petite, aurait pu être plus propre. Literie moyenne, de propreté douteuse. Draps propres mais traversin sous ceux-ci, de couleur jaune et taché. Découverte également dans le lit des cheveux oubliés. Téléviseur écran plat avec 6 chaînes françaises dont 2 avec une mauvaise réception et pas de canal+. La salle de bain était correcte, en marbre avec sèche-cheveux mais dépourvue de chauffage. Donc glaciale. La poignée de la porte à moitié arrachée. Petit déjeuner servis dans une salle composée de 7 petites tables. Ce qui nous a choqué, c'est que les nappes d'un épais damassé rouge bordeaux étaient tachées (café, confiture, beurre, etc...) Petit déjeuner avec un verre de jus d'orange, un petit pain rond, un croissant, beurre, confiture, et une petite compote de pomme. Café, thé ou chocolat. Nous avions réservé pour 2 nuitées. En revenant le soir dans notre chambre, celle-ci n'avait pas été faite. Nous l'avons retrouvée telle que nous l'avions laissée le matin. Le veilleur de nuit nous a gentiment donné des serviettes propres. Le lendemain matin (dimanche), nous étions les seuls au petit déjeuner. Une employée (la même qui nous a servis) est venue avec les bras chargés de draps de bain et les a allègrement secoués et pliés sur les tables du petit déjeuner, non loin de nous !!! A signaler que n'avons pas réussi à avoir un taxi le samedi soir à partir de cet hôtel. Il est d'ailleurs spécifié à la réception de le commander la veille.

This was a quaint hotel 2 minutes away from Le Jardin Du Luxembourg in a upper class quiet neighbourhood. It does not offer the luxuries of a North American style hotel but, for the price, it shouldn't be expected. The room is quiet small but, for two people, it works. The mattress could have been softer but, it's a simple hotel. As a North American, do not expect what you get at home, because Europe is hundreds of years older and was built with smaller accomodations. The lift is small but operational. The hotel offers breakfast at an extra cost, a nice computer and library to relax in. But, it's in a great area, you are right next to the exciting Latin Quartier (cheapest place to eat in Paris). You are close to the Metro, Pantheon and other sites in the 6th district. The hotel was nice enough to hold on to my luggage when I checked out as I had four hours to kill before my train to London. Great service, the staff spoke English. Paris was lovely!!! Sorry no pictures of the room but, I promise the bathrooms and rooms are VERY clean.

Wir waren schon vorher einmal in diesem Hotel. Es gefällt uns, weil direkt neben dem Park Jardin du Luxembourg liegt, eine sehr schöne Gegend und auch ganz praktisch, wenn man sich die Sehenswürdigkeiten auf der linken Seineseite ansehen möchte. Wir haben aber rausgefunden, dass es ein wenig teurer als die anderen Hotels dort. Nicht gefallen hat uns diesmal, dass der Fahrstuhl kaputt war. Und unser Zimmer war im 5. Stock! Die Concierge war eine ältere Frau, wir mussten daher auf Personal von der Nachtschicht warten, ehe uns jemand die Koffer die enge Treppe hoch getragen hat. Das Zimmer war so lala, aber wir haben schon in viel schlechteren Hotels in Paris übernachtet.

We have stayed at this hotel before. We love it because it is right near the Luxemburg Gardens, a very nice neighborhood and convenient to Left Bank sights. But it is a bit more expensive, we found, than some of the other neighborhood hotels. What soured us this time was a broken elevator. Our room was on the fifth floor! The concierge was an older woman so we had to wait for the night staff to have our luggage lugged up these narrow flights. The room is so-so, but we've certainly stayed in much worse Paris hotels.
