The Good – Room was very large, which was great for our family of three. The location was very convenient and was an easy walk to restaurants and shops. The breakfast was nice with lots of choices.
The Bad – Room was very outdated with velour upholstery and black lacquer d?cor. There was a bar area which reminded me of the 1970s. More modern hotels with suites have kitchenettes which would have been more appropriate. The bathroom was awkward in that the towel rack was not next to the tub. The rack was above the toilet however, there was a bidet in between the toilet and the tub. Although it was a non smoking room, there were cigarette holes in the chairs and couch. The worst thing was the sleeper sofa in the living room. It was broken and there was no frame to hold the mattress so it lay directly on the floor. Therefore, the cushions sunk into the couch. It was extremely uncomfortable to sit on and to get up out of. In places, there were staples sticking out. We reported the problem to the front desk. The maintenance person came up and said we reported a broken sink, which totally confused us. After we realized the miscommunication, we called the front desk again and explained that it was our couch with the cushions that “sunk” in and not the “sink” that was broken. She said she would put in another call to the maintenance office. No one came.
We always try to get a suite because we are a family with a small child. Thought the Embassy suites would have been nice since it was part of the Hilton chain. However, we’ll probably stick with Marriott’s Residence Inns whenever we can even though the rooms are smaller.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites in downtown Minneapolis for 5 days in mid-May and it was exceptional. The staff was more than accommodating and cheeful. The rooms are comfortable (all suites) and a home cooked breakfast is served every morning with a great selection. The location of the hotel is excellent and they have a shuttle that will take you most anywhere on a complimentary basis. Every Tuesday evening, the shuttle goes to the Mall of America. When in the area, check the minneapolis.org website for theater productions. Each show is NYC Broadway quality. The Ordway theater is exceptional with wonderful restaurants surrounding the area. I would recommend staying at this hotel --- it is afforable, has a fitness area, swimming pool (but no lounge chairs - only "straight back" chairs), an on-site restaurant and bar. There are plenty of brochures in the lobby to find something to do. ENJOY!!!

Just spent 2 night at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Minneapolis. To say that they need to remodel the rooms is an understatement. Stained, warn carpet, horrible beds and sheets, 70's pink tile with moldy grout in the bathrooms, bedroom TV that did not work. I'm surprised to see that this hotel still carries the Embassy Suites name. I've stayed in Super 8 motels that had nicer rooms. AVOID.

My car and others in the same row, not 15 feet from the door to the hotel, were broken into the one night I spent at the hotel. At the front desk, they acted uninterested and faked surprise. The police officer said that the downtown ramps get vandalized very often. When I called the front desk a few days later, I asked them if they had a parking ramp attached, and if it was safe. They said it was very safe. At that point, I talked to the manager who said that he would discuss with his staff that they needed to be more honest and at least admit that there is a chance that their car and valuables might be unsafe in the city-owned parking ramp they recommended to their guests. The hotel made no other attempts to make the situation any better, stating it could have happened anywhere.
Breakfast was great and rooms had tons of mirrors for a couple of women to stay and get ready in the mornings.
