Just got back from a three day business trip to McAllen, Tx and stayed at the Embassy Suites.
The place was perfect. Literally 3 minutes from the airport.
Check in staff was prompt and friendly.
The rooms are huge. Two seperate rooms. One, a living room with a mini kitchen and TV and the other a big bedroom.
The beds were not the most confortable I've slept in but they were OK.
The bathroom was big and the best part was the shower pressure.
The price of the room includes a full buffett breakfast which was delicious.
I would definetely go bak to this property and recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely love the Embassy!!

I absolutely love the Embassy! This is my home away from home. I am working on a project for my company for the last year and a half that is located in Reynosa, Mx. This involves several trips and long stays at a time. For my trips I have NEVER seen a dirty/filthy room. The rooms have always been very clean and the grounds are always clean. The Atrium has nice trees and plants and gives you an exotic atmosphere. Love the fountain!
The breakfasts each morning are delicious. During the weekday, you can get anything you want. Pancakes, French Toast, cereal etec. Yes..they do have omlets then. They allow you to chose the ingredients you want in it (spinich, onions, mushrooms, ham etc). Then they cook to order. They do not go around and personally offer these, but you'll see where they have this set-up in the "kitchen" area. Take a look around, you'll see on the counter the bowls set-up for the ingredients. Just fill the bowl provided and hand it to the chief! You do have to ask for the cheese, if wanted. Yes, the scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage are on a buffet table for faster service but not the omlets. Of course, plenty of fruit and yougurts are available along with toast, bagels and pastrys. During the weekend the omlets are not offered due to the high demand of guests during this time.
The weekends are extremely busy at the Embassy. Many visitors come from Mexico to shop at the near by plaza and stores. This is a challenge for the area no matter what hotel you are at. So, enjoy the cultral diversity during this time!
The staff at the Embassy are professional and extremely friendly and courteous. I've yet had a request that wasn't handled quickly and efficently. I've been here enough they know me by name!
The hotel has gone through some up-dating and I have seen continual improvements during my extended stays. An issue with the hotel is on occassions you do have to run the shower in the morning and wait for the water to get hot. Just be prepared in the AM that you may have to wait just a bit for your hot water. This doesn't seem to be an issue any other time of day.
I highly recomment the Embassy.. I must like it since I repeatedly chose to stay here :) Besides, got to love the Hilton Honor points you can earn.
A managers reception is offered each night. Free drinks for 2 hours alongs with popcorn and tortilla chips. Nice way to relax in the evening. They do have a restaurant , can be pricy but the food is good. Of course, for later in the evening a bar with live entertainment. It does on occasions get loud for rooms above the area, but at least they don't play very late!
Of course I'll be back.. I Love the Embassy!!

Stayed at the Embassy Suites McAllen, Tx for two nights. The lobby is beautiful with the Embassy Suites atrium. Beautiful water fountain and palm trees.
We stayed on the 3rd floor - very close above the hotel bar and restaurant. The first night was quiet, but on the 2nd night the music pretty loud - could hear the people in the bar when they were speaking loudly. Could hear little kids in the lobby running around. and yelling.
The free happy hour from 5:30 to 7:30 pm is nice. They served popcorn and tortillia chips and salsa as the snack.
Had a meal from the hotel restaurant, Remingtons. Ordered the shrimp diablo which was listed as an appetizer, but was large enough for a meal. Very good, if a bit too spicy (and I love spicy!)
Free breakfast in the morning is great too. The cooked to order omlets were great. They also had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. on a buffet. Cooks and servers for both the happy hour and free breakfast were very nice and friendly.
Room was nice with what looked like a newer carpet. There was a table and chairs, microwave and small refrigerator with a small bar sink. coffee pot in room was convenient. Would like to have had a coffee table in front of the sofa. Only one end table for the sofa. Sofa was FIRM - not all that comfortable. Although it looked nice.
The bathroom was a bit dated. It had glass shower doors. Hadn't seen these in a while. Dated countertops and lighting. Saw some rust on the towel rack. Water pressure was good with plenty of hot water. Can't complain really about the bathroom, as it was clean and functional.
The bedroom was nice and roomy with plenty of closet and drawer space. . Bed was comfortable, but not plush. Linens were nice and felt very clean.
Air conditioner is a bit loud as the return air vent is in the ceiling in the parlor area.
Front desk clerks were very welcoming.
Pool is indoors with a hot tub. There is a space outside with lounging chairs if you want to sunbathe.
This hotel was VERY CLEAN and welcoming. Although it could use a bit of updating, it is a nice hotel.
Free wireless internet worked great!! (is available in rooms and in the lobby).
I would certainly stay here again if I were in the McAllen area.

My husband and I have just returned from our 2nd stay at the Embassy Suites in McAllen, having stayed there 2 nights on each occasion. On the 1st stay we were upgraded to a HUGE conference suite without asking for an upgrade. On the 2nd stay, we had a normal size suite which was about average for Embassy Suites (we've stayed in larger as well as smaller).
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. When one staff person saw me standing at the elevator holding my breakfast tray to take to my room, he offered to take it up for me. Almost all staff smiled and greeted me when passing by in the hotel. I take this as a sign of a good working environment and good management overall.
The rooms were comfortable as well as the beds and pillows. There were 3 pillows on each bed and extra pillows in a drawer. The living area furnture was firm and comfortable.
The lighting in the bedroom could have been better... more was needed. The hotel has not yet gone environmentally "green" and the multiple bulbs in the bathroom tend to make the bathroom rather warm with the door closed.
The lobby and atrium area is very attractive and typical of Embassy Suites. The hotel advertises a "made to order" breaksfast. Actually, the food is already prepared and set out on a buffet with steam trays. Omelets were never offered during the 4 breakfasts we had there. One reviewer stated there were 4 choices of juice... I only saw 2, i.e., orange and apple.
Housekeeping staff were excellent and it was interesting to note that fresh linens and fresh towels are provided daily without being asked when so many hotels are only making these changes ever 3 days unless specifically asked to do so.
One reviewer said the hotel was dirty. I saw nothing dirty in any area and I went in and out 3 different doors. Perhaps he just happened upon a really bad time. While we were there this last time several high school soccer teams were also staying there. The young men were perfect in their behavior and even though there were many of them, staff seemed to be able to still manage efficiently.
The high speed internet worked perfectly in our suite with no problems.
Overall I would recommend this hotel and we will be staying there again.

Overall, very much enjoyed my stay. Staff was friendly, and shuttle bus not only picked us up/took us to the airport but was happy to drive us to the nearby mall and to a nearby hotel to meet up with some friends. Hotel and rooms were very clean. Added bonuses: free internet and a kiosk in the lobby where you can check-in and print out your airline boarding passes. Best part of the hotel: the super comfortable beds!! I wished I could take it home with me!
I was a little disappointed that there were no omelets at breakfast, but otherwise the spread was excellent -- scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, cereals, pastries, etc., etc.
Would definitely consider staying here again.
