We stayed overnight in the Embassy Suites-Baymeadows. The room was not good. There were multiple leaks in the bathroom. They leaked a tremendous amount of water during the entire stay. There was no hot water in the morning for showers. There were not enough towels/washcloths for all of our guests. The sofabed in the living room is in front of windows that open out onto the corridor. There is no way to completely close the curtains, so people walking by can see you sleeping. This was our first and last stay in an Embassy Suites.

stayed in May 2008
Pros:
decent breakfast, nice atrium, close to I-95, pleasant staff
Cons:
never received extra towels requested (called 2 times), skimpy on the amenities, room 219 - beware - noisy hotel AC unit outside window - rumbles off and on all night, door between the two rooms doesn't latch - therefore light and sound go between the rooms,
Pullout sofa bed is unusable as a bed. Why advertise a pull out sofa that has a mattress full of metal springs that protrude.....room wasn't that clean - trash under kitchenette sink, old toothpaste on backsplash,etc. Happy hour was so lame - the only snack was pretzels, tortilla chips and salsa- it was never replenished. GIant bowls of crumbs were all that was left we we came down to have a drink. Fitness center lacked towels and a/c - had to call and request both in order to use it - very weak!
Hotel was w/o water in the morning - that meant no showers, flushing, etc. No apology or explanation was given. Lucky for us this happened after we had showered .
~~~This was a very disappointing stay - but I think this is what you get for $100 per night.
I'd rate this hotel as good. I stayed with a few friends for one night in March 2008. I was in the "executive" building in the back, others were in the main building. The executive building room was clean, a good size, and everything worked properly. It was fairly quiet as well but noisier if you got near the elevators. Check-in/check-out was easy. The AM breakfast was good, although not the healthiest food you could imagine. I didn't use the pool, gym, etc.
The rooms in the main building were also a good size but friends said they were a bit less clean than mine. They also seemed a bit noisier. The elevators in the hotel were slow.
Overall, I'd stay again for a reasonable price. The hotel is not exciting but does the job.
I stayed at the Embassy Suites in August 2006 for a business meeting. I was there for 5 nights. The atrium is very pretty and the restaurant is nice, but the rest of the hotel could use an update. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to have "suite" where the bedroom was separate from everything else. Also a plus was the fact that the window/door in the bedroom opens. This was a pleasant surprise as I'm a smoker.
The staff was reasonably friendly and helpful. I had requested (and was charged for) internet access that never quite worked (I made them take it off my bill when checking out). The guy at the front desk attempted to help me with it but had less of a clue than I did...not his fault...just circumstances.
The breakfast was just "ok" but let me preface that with the fact that I'm not a morning person and was forced to get up earlier than normal to get to my meetings. So really, I could have been at the Ritz and wouldn't have been happy at breakfast! :-)
The location was great...close to shopping and lots of restaurants. Several highways were very accessible and the beach is only about 30-45 minutes away (definitely take a ride to the beach if you're in Jax).
I'm trying to be fair in this review. Two months prior to staying here I stayed at the Adolphus in Dallas which was absolutely beautiful so, in comparison, I was a little disappointed when I arrived here.
Not bad for someone on a budget, but if the company is paying for it...find a nicer place! :-)
After reading several reviews I was very hesitant to stay at this hotel. That is why I feel I must give a review. This hotel was very accommodating! I checked in at 8:30am on Christmas Eve morning! They allowed me to do this so I could decorate the room for my kids so it felt as much like being at home for Christmas as possible (they are 4 and 7). The room was spacious, clean, well appointed. The maid service was wonderful as were all the bell staff. The evening cocktails were so much fun for the kids and the breakfasts left nothing to be desired! There is a business center which we used at no cost and a wonderful indoor pool. Please do not hesitate booking this hotel. They are doing continuous improvements and list them in the lobby for all guests to see. Maggie at the front desk, I give her a BIG thank you for all her help!
