I arrived in Charleston without a hotel reservation. went to the marion hotel which was sold out. they directed me to embassy suites. beautiful big pink stucco hotel. upon arrival everyone was very welcoming. valet's were nice young college students. front desk very personable, gave us wonderful dinner recommendations. Room was beautiful with a small sitting area. large bedroom with a jacuzzi plus a separate bath. frig in room. Close to all. Hot breakfast included in good price. perfect for family. large area in lobby where people were sitting around tables playing cards. families milling around. I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend it for large family groups or couples on a romantic getaway. wished the stay was for more than one night.

My wife and I were a bit nervous about staying here after reading some reviews. Turns out we are glad we followed through, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
I am HHonors gold and booked a King room with the hot tub through the Hilton site @ $300/night. We added on two nights in Charleston following three nights in Myrtle Beach. Maybe the disappointment of MB added to our enjoyment of Charleston, but we had a blast.
The room - We had 201 which was in the corner of the building. One wall was brick, the others were plastered stone or standard sheet rock. The hot tub in the room was a nice 2-person tub. The king bed was very confortable. The only negative was that the bedroom door, when opened, blocked the entry to the bathroom. A minor inconvience, but very annoying.
The hotel - By now you know it is in the former Citadel building, and prior to that served as a fort and an arsenal, amongst other things. This added to the "cool factor." The layout is easy and comfortable. We enjoyed the manager's reception both nights. The appetizers were good and the line was never too long. I hope Randi is your hostess. She's great! We also enjoyed the breakfast each morning. Again, lines were not too long, and the prepped foot was delicious and always hot. The staff here is equally friendly. The cook is awesome. Must be that Southern Hospitality.
Parking - it is $12 self park and $18 for valet. We paid for the valet and never had too long of a wait for our car. One night we decided against driving to dinner, and the bellman called a "pedi-cab." It was $10 to go down to Market and Bay St. A very enjoyable ride on a beautiful evening!
The staff - always friendly and helpful. One of the friendliest staffs at any Embassy I have stayed at recently.
I stay at Embassy about 6 times a year. This was one of the best, from staff to the food to the clean and comfortable rooms. It is not the cheapest, but all things considered, it is A+. I'd definitely stay here again!

Three days in June 2008 cost $965 for a two room suite with no windows, no vent in the bathroom, and parking at $12/day ($18/day for vallet parking). Aside from the price, no windows, no vent, and pay for parking, I liked the place. Good full breakfast - didn't want lunch after all the food for breakfast. Agreeable interior.

You know that relative you have... the one that is really a nice person, but you would never want to have to work with them? That pretty much describes my stay there. First of all, for what it offers, it is simply overpriced. The hotel is in need of renovations. For example, both the tub faucet AND the faucet itself were pulled out of the wall. Yes, by at least a couple of inches. Then the heating system made so much noise it felt as though I was sleeping in an airplane.. with that noise in the background. The chair in the living room was also very dirty.
And, the bathroom amenities are SO small, I can only imagine what a nightmare it must be if you were older or had arthritis to open. Pretty ridiculous.
Now, the restaurant staff was watching a football game and ignoring customers, and that included me. We were one of two tables there. And for a club sandwich and a burger, it took 35 minutes. Now, unless they are killing the cow out back, that is just ridiculous. And the managers reception consisted of a bag of broken chips, a very unappetizing type of dip, and some cut up vegetables that looked like they were picked up from the grocery store earlier that day. You know, the ones you buy precut?
The rest of the staff was nice. The beds were comfortable. So I have to give proper credit were it was due. But for what you paid, you absolute do not get the value.

The hotel was beautiful and the atirum was nice, but the room was awful! We booked a 2 bedroom suite not a 2 room suite, so we ended up with 6 people in a 2 room suite with a pull-out couch! Then the TV's did not work! The breakfast sucked, the line was so long because if you didn't just eat from the bar and did decided to have a "cooked-to-order" ommlett you waited and you waited and your family left without you! They really need to work on that! REALLY! The parking was stupid! Why in the world must I pay to have my car parked for me, I understand a parking fee, but come on I can go get my own car and not have to wait in such a line waiting on some kid to get back with my car, and then tip him for something so simple as waIking to my car and driving away, geez, I see it right there!!!!!!!! I was wanting so much more, it was just such a let down!
