Smal boutique/vest pocket hotel in the Sant Gervasi neighborhood in Barelona. We like that it was small and out of the way; i.e. - off the tourist-beaten track. You'll be in a neighborhood with the locals, local restaurants, etc. Half a block from the Linea 7 metro stop, an easy 4 stop ride to Plaza Catalunya. Minimalist decor, which we appreciated, and very helpful staff. They have an evening coffee service (6 to 9 PM), just the thing to charge your batteries before going out. Rates when we there were about 200 euros a night, and we felt this was a fair rate. We would definitely recommend this place, and would return again.

Stayed 2 nights this January. Hotel combines comfort and efficiency with charm and friendliness.
All the staff, whether at reception or serving at breakfast, were extremely welcoming and helpful at all times. The room was huge and very well appointed - great bed, big modern bathroom, everything immaculately clean, including new white bathrobes and slippers laid out on the beds. It was also unusual in having a proper desk with sitting room area with sofas and chairs, so the room felt more like a small flat with office facilities. Also unusual for Europe were the coffee/tea-making facilities in each room.
Breakfast was a vast buffet - enough to challenge the biggest appetites. You can also use the lounge area during the day and help yourself to tea, coffee and cakes up to 9 at night. On our first night, staff brought a plate of fresh sliced tropical fruit to the room.
Good area too - Muntaner is a lively upmarket street, well connected to all parts of the city but away from the touristy bustle of the Ramblas area. Check out the Galvany covered market over the road if you get a chance. Generally first rate.

Booked this hotel for a family getaway to Barcelona. Like most cities, it's not easy to find a hotel with a family room but the Rekord offered 2 choices, a family room or an apartment a few doors away. We chose the apartment and were not disappointed, it was really big with 3 double rooms, a kitchen, lounge and dining room. The accommodation was clean and well kept and the staff were great. Parking is a bit of a problem in Barcelona but the Rekord has an underground car park at extra cost. Not in the centre of town, the Rekord is in a good area about 20 mins walk from the city which was nothing considering the amount of walking we did over the weekend ! Breakfast in the hotel was also great. Barcelona is not a cheap place to stay and I think the Rekord was about average in terms of cost so quite good value considering. I found this hotel on this website and can recommend this hotel for a stay in Barcelona especially for a family.
