Smallest room I ever seen

Absolutely frustrating experience. We received such a small room (double) that I could not pass between the bed and the wall to the balcony without touching the TV set on the wall with my shoulder.
Staff was unfriendly. Food was very expensive and yet quite poor. When asked, they admitted to have forgotten to add tuna fish into the salad. Local champagne (cava) for breakfast was nice though.
Room was not 5-star at all. First, safe box did not work, but got fixed in an hour. In addition, the whole system is very inconvenient - it works not with a code but with a credit card. It means you always have to take a credit card to the beach – how does it help security? Second, one lamp did not work and despite my two requests no one showed up to fix it. Then we got water running on us in the bathroom.
Finally, fed up with all the problems and arrogant staff, we moved to another hotel. As we did it at 3 p.m. next day while check-out is 12 p.m. they wanted to charge us the whole extra night (EUR 300) but after some negotiations were kind enough to take half (for 3 extra hours!). We also saw an Englishman complaining that he had reserved a big room for his family and got a very small one so he had to leave as well.
We left with a bad feeling – that was neither a 5-star room, nor service.

Just came back from a weekend where a friend was getting married in Marbella, and a large number of guests including the groom were staying. The staff seemed to be programmed to say no!
I was given one of the smallest hotel rooms I’ve ever had and had an awful view directly over adjoining properties balcony within 10ft.
On arriving late in the evening and requesting a better room for my money (not cheap to stay here) they advised they only had one but would not offer it as they believed they could sell it that night (1.15am!)
The groom was given an awful room even though because of him, the hotel was full, after a lot of complaining was rightly given the Presidential suite for the wedding night only.
There was not enough staff at breakfast which was adequate at best, the pool staff were overly strict about towels, (no card no towel!)
We had guests come to visit us for lunch on leaving the staff refused to order them a taxi as they weren’t guests.
This is meant to be a five star hotel!!
In summing up- great location and nicely placed on the beach, modern and clean hotel, however quite sole less and staff need re-training 3-4 star at best!!

We have just returned from a week at the Guadalpin Banus. The hotel is great and much better than some of the recent reviews on here. We had a superior double with great views out over the Med and pool area. You could not fault the staff throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything a little pricey but that's what you expect being in Puerto Banus. We walked along the beach each night to head to the marina for dinner each night - max of 10 minutes and was very easy to get a taxi back (approx 8 euros) no matter what time it was. The concierge were very helpful in providing us a map and details of good restaurants. We were staying here from a sunday to a saturday. I have to say i was very surprised at the number of hen and stag dos that arrived on the friday for their weekends - very annoying if you wanted peace and quiet by the pook - why don't they stay in the hotels like the Pyr or Duque for example!? We were glad to be leaving them to it on the saturday! The monday through to Thursday was blissful and peaceful around the pool. We would definitely return to this hotel for a mid week break or off season when less big groups of people who have no consideration for others. We were room only but would recommend getting a B&B rate as the breakfast is amazing and well worht the 15 euros we paid for a couple of days. You certainly do not need lunch! And the outside patio/terrace where you can eat this is superb and very relaxing.
Overall if you are a couple/2 friends wanting a relaxing break in the sun or young family then i'd definitely recommend this hotel and it looked by far the nicest one we saw in banus! worth the money.

I should have listened to the reviews on Trip Advisor! I think this hotel is great if you are with a hen/stag party but that is about it. It's nice enough but certainly NOT 5 star. We arrived and were told that the twin room we requested was not available so we we given possibly the worst room in the hotel - on the corner above the underground car park, very dark & very small. The manager told us that he could move us to a junior suite with an extra bed for 1 night and then move us to a better twin room after that. After a sleepless night listening to shouting & screaming, people racing up & the corridors until 5am we decided we did not want to stay there so Victor the very helpful manager moved us to their sister hotel in Marbella. I will NEVER return to the Banus Guadalpin!

I stayed at the Hotel Guadalpin for two weeks from the 21st June to the 5th July 2008.
The Hotel room was classified as a Superior Room but was rather small.
The staff were not adequately trained and there seemed to be not enough staff employed.
The breakfast was only ok - certainly not 5 star standard.
Stag and hen parties reduced the pool area to a free for all during the weekends.
In general I do not believe that this hotel deserves a 5 star rating, in my opinion it barely would deserve a 4 star rating. The only thing 5 star about this hotel was the cost to stay.
My advise - avoid if possible.
