Stayed in hotel for a too short time in Paris at the end of our trip. We know the area and were put off by it being just across the street from the Holiday Inn with has it's cheesy green sign outside. We got a good deal from the internet website. The room was ready when we arrived early. Lobby OK, filled with luggage and packages when we arrived and sofas looked worn. Room nicely decorated, quite large, nice bathroom size, very clean and neat -looking. Husband complained that the bed was too hard. For a short stay, problem with elevator meant we had to pack up and they moved us to the first floor...not attractive view of Holiday Inn across the street. Management very nice and helpful. Breakfast included but was OK, nothing great. Lovely breakfast room in the vaulted basement. Their recommendation for Le Petite Lutetia was horrible; worst meal we have ever had in Paris. Sorry we didn't stay on the Right Bank or near the Pantheon....loads of tourists and very hard to get any taxis. Hard for me to walk up and down stairs to get to the Metro.

Charming Hotel

We returned for the seventh time last week and will be booking a future visit by weeks end A small hotel in the sixth central to most sites and within walking distance of great shops and restaurantsThe hotel offers a continental breakfast and at extra charge delivered to your room
Tea,drinks etc are available in small lobby area-pricey but this is Paris
Rooms are simple and are not large by North American standards-Bathtubs with hand held shower head are the standard
Personnel at the front desk are very bright and helpful-happy to make reservations at restaurants and book taxis
We give them a list of our top three restaurant choices as we head out for the day and ask them to secure a reservation
We have found the staff to be particularly well informed re thelatest in galleries
They are replacing the elevator this summer and are offering special rates to those who enjoy hiking up the stairs
We think the hotel offers great value
A real gem

This hotel is a real find and lived up to all the rave reviews - the rooms are comfortable, above average size and spotless and the staff wonderful (the receptionist when we stayed could have passed as some eccentric writer - perhaps he was!). I particularly liked the fact that they file away your name so they can welcome you back as a return visitor of which the must get many. One tip for summer visitors: book a room at the front not the back since the street is likely to be more quiet than the courtyard at the back - I was kept awake until the early hours by talking fellow guests (?) ...

Dreadful concierge service!

Never in all my travels in France have I encountered such rude and incompetent concierge service. I regret not having consulted some of the earlier reviews on this site complaining about it, because it did mar our stay. Apart from this, travelers who prefer comfortable showers will be disappointed by the antiquated bathtub which, among other deficiencies, has a rod but no curtain.
On the plus side, the hotel is located in a pleasant neighborhood, close to a metro, and is just a 30-minute walk away from the famous cafes of St. Germain.
Needless to say, when we next return to Paris, my spouse and I won't be staying at the St. Gregoire.

A true Parisian experience. Comfortable, clean friendly, with an excellent location.
Those from Michigan may prefer the Holiday Inn across the street, so that they never leave the U.S.A.
