Nearly everything in these villas-apartments is great!
Smooth check-in with nice staff, ultraclean and tastefully decorated room with kitchenette, well located for the beaches and the city centre, ..
Summing up, a great discovery!!

A lovely place for a quiet holiday - staff always very helpful and courteous. Two lovely beaches minutes walk away and whilst a 10 - 15 minute walk into town, the exercise does you good!
Accomodation clean and lovely decor in true portuguese style.
Next time would take up Bed and Breakfast opportunity instead of Self Catering. Always room by the pool at any time of day.
We will definitely visit again
Don't expect valuables to stay in your room!!

Ok it was clean, the rooms were a good size, the breakfast was varied and plentiful and it was neatly located 5 mins from a gorgeous beach.
What they don't advertise is the fact that it's a good 15 min walk into town - and the walk back is mostly up a very steep hill with very few street lights- not at all ideal for females.
Plus the resort is not 45 mins from the airport by train or bus as advised. In fact we took the bus from the airport into Faro town and then caught the bus from town to Lagos - which wasted nearly three hours of the day. Apparently the train is even longer!! The staff were not very visible, or helpful and when I returned to the room to find my 'not so cheap' necklace had gone missing I might as well have told them I'd lost a euro.
They were not interested, didn't take my complaint at all seriously and brushed it aside claiming it had probably been hoover up? They reluctently took my details but two weeks later I'm still waiting to hear from them.
The stay had been quite ok up until this point but it totally took the edge off the holiday and has left a very sour taste in our mouths - I strongly advise against staying at this resort.

We have just returned from a weekend break in Lagos, Portugal. It was a last minute decision, following a disappointing weather in the UK for the last 6 weeks. We booked a weekend break through Easyholiday.com (total price for two £400 / booked just a few hours prior to departure), a bread new offering from Mr. Stelios and it was great. We left London on Saturday and arrived to Faro in the afternoon following a 35 min journey to our hotel in Lagos. The local buses from the airport to the city centre are running every hour so we decided to get a taxi. Lots of other travelers are using taxi services and there are fixed rates (used as a guideline) but all taxis are fitted with meters. We didn't know that Lagos is 70km away from Faro but the motorway is very good, not much traffic and we made it to our hotel in just half an hour. Taxi from Faro airport to Lagos cost 110 euros (regular weekend fare) but when booked through the hotel 65 euros. Try to contact your hotel prior to arrival as they might be able to book you a cheaper transfer. When we booked our flight + hotel through Easyholiday.com we didn't expect top end hotel as it's a no thrills airline so "Costa D'oiro Ambiance Village" came as a wonderful surprise. it's situated on the outskirts of town of Lagos and has 16 apartments each beautifully decorated, with specious room, kitchen, bathroom and a small terrace. All apartments / studios are overlooking the courtyard which has a small but clean swimming pool, lots of loungers and a restaurant. The hotel atmosphere is very relaxed, with friendly staff and being so small you don't have a feeling that you are in a hotel or a resort but your own private villa. They offered us 2 welcome cocktails of our choice which we readily accepted trying to get in that "holiday mood" asap, since staying in Portugal just for over 24 hours. The apartments are newly decorated in a typical Portuguese style with colorful walls, kitchen small but functional and a bathroom (bath tab instead of shower). The apartment was very tidy, cleaned daily. All rooms are air conditioned. The hotel restaurant is great, we had a breakfast there on Sunday morning (served daily 8am-10.30am) and it's a buffet with a great variety of food (for everyone’s taste) including local produce ham, cheese, cakes etc. There are two main beaches near the hotel: Donna Ana 5 min walk and Donna Maria 10 min walk. They are both beautiful, very quiet sandy beaches, ideal for a relaxing swim and sunbathing. We spent the afternoon at Donna Maria beach and dined at the restaurant just on the top of the hill (remember there is a steep set of steps leading to the beach) which serves local grilled fish and meat dishes (lunch 25-30euros for two). The restaurant is lacking in decor and customer service but the view from the restaurant overlooking the bay and the delicious grilled fish is priceless.
If you decide to visit Portugal for a beach holiday in Algarve region visit Lagos for a relaxing and far away from everything break. I highly recommend Costa D'oiro Ambiance Village and would definitely go back.

we stayed here at the end of june after reading the reviews on trip advisor. we got there mid week and when booked we asked for a sea view which we got but i would go against as you have to look over the car park which is not the best sight (go for a pool/garden view). the hotel is split into 2 parts, one is for the rooms, the other for apartments, we were in the rooms which i couldnt fault, really nice, clean with all you need in them and cleaned everyday wth fresh towels if needed. i did read one review that the pics were a bit disconcerting, this is true cause the pics make the hotel and pool area big, there not, its a very small affair outside, the pool is tiny and was freezing, there are about 10 sun beds and seeing that everyone goes to the beach around the corner, the girlfriend and i had the whole place to ourselves for all 5 days we were there. the breakfast is the usual continental and we were the only british people there as its one for the germans and dutch. staff, excellent, couldnt fault them and very helpful. there is a small bar and restaurant there and a taxi into the centre is 4 euros. all in all very good
