We happened across this resort while researching tea plantations in China. We had to go! Even after reading the reveiws on Trip Advisor which were not always favorable- mostly due to expense. This hotel/golf resort and spa is a bit more money, but worth it. If you are looking for a bit of respite, and to charge the batteries...go here! It is an hour ride from the Hangzhou Airport. The resort arranged a contract taxi for 150 Yuan. Well worth it. Efficient and easy. From the moment we walked in the door, we were relaxed. Great staff, rooms are clean and very welcoming, and the indoor pool is amazing. This resort is surrounded by tea plantations, and hugged by a man-made lake. Any chance that you get to enjoy a drink or a meal at the Lakeside Lounge- or any of the restaurants- you will not be disappointed. The food was above average. The Spa Experience was great for me( facial/scalp treatment), and a little not-so- great for my husband. He choose a Chinese Relaxing massage,ah..not so relaxing. He is sticking to Swedish massages from now on! We believe we were there during off -season( June). So much quieter, and more secluded. The hotel also will arrange for a driver to take you into see the West Lake sites, in hind sight, just staying at the resort after 8 days traveling would've been fine for us! Enjoy!

This hotel is NOT open to the public - they are only open to certain expats and foreigners that pass THEIR litmus test - and of course they won't tell you if they fit their "target" criteria until you show up. While I was there they turned away 2 couples who didn't "fit" although they were well dressed. This place reminds me of a bad disco club. Quite offensive attitude. Management said they needed to be "selective" to filter out the "unwanted" guests - he said this with a straight face even though the place was nearly empty of guests. I suspect this place is not really designed to be a resort but rather a private club for local officials or businessmen who needed some cover for their private functions. In any event , this is NOT a good place for those expecting a five star resort with pampering or even good golf - the course is beautiful but the attitude ruins the beautiful surroundings. We ended up cutting the stay short because it was so stifling there. Hangzhou is beautiful but stay elsewhere. By the way, you are NOT ALLOWED onto the property to dine at their restaurants, play golf, or even take a look if you want to find a place for corporate functions. The PUBLIC must be interviewed first before allowed on!!!! GIve me a break. THis is CHina NOT Monaco. What a JOKE!!

We went to Fuchun resort for Easter and loved every minute of it!
The decor is beautiful, food delicious, setting very peaceful and pretty. We felt totally relaxed when we left and had a far better experience than expected, we look forward to going back again!
Although not cheap, when compared to other hotels and resorts around the world I found it to actually be good value and not expensive like many other hotels I stay in. I definately thought we got value for money, even the massages for 350RMB were amazing - and this is very cheap compared to most 5* hotel spas.
All in all, if you want a different Chinese experience away from the crowds where you can chill out and relax in lovely environment then this is definately worth going to. If you want to be in the midst of the city for lots of exploring and don't want to spend much money, then maybe another hotel closer to Hangzhou would be more suitable.

stay by friend recommendation, the design is perfect, the golf is ok, the price is overprice, the service worst, to many local people during the weekend.
as a part of small luxury hotels, I am expecting more, as I am traveling around the world, normally I am choosing design hotels www.designhotels.com
This time, I read an article about fuchun resorts is just perfect, but the fact an article is just article.

I was told that the summer in Fuchun was cooler than in Hangzhou...don't believe it. It was 38+ each day and there was no way to play golf. The cost of the room was over twice what a comparable room would cost in Hangzhou and the food was almost three times the cost of any hotel elsewhere. While the service was excellent there was no one at the resort when we where there so it was easy for them to be at our beckon call. Because the resort is located in the middle of nowhere there is nothing to do except stay at the resort and play golf or spa. There aren't any restaurants or anything else near this resort. Hangzhou is at least 30 minutes away by car on a terrible road with lots of construction and traffic.
We booked a lake view suite and the view of the lake was from the side and was not impressive. With no one at the resort you would have thought the staff would have given us the best room possible but no we got probably the worst suite at the resort. I booked a golf package but because we didn't play because it was too hot I asked them to charge me just for the room but they refused and instead still charged me for a golf package. I felt cheated and will not ever return to this resort. While the design is unique the construction and materials in someway are cheap. For the money this is resort is completely overpriced not only for the rooms but also for the food and the spa services. Go to a Banyan Tree in LiJiang or in Phuket...forget Fuchun.
