We spent four nights here at the end of a cruise. The guidebooks are high on the hotel, but apparently the people who wrote that stuff never stayed here. The location is good, the staff was nice, and the neighborhood is quieter and more pleasant than some other places where hotels are located. But the room was very small and had only one chair, the bed wasn't real comfortable, the bathroom was tiny, the television wasn't worth much, the ventilation wasn't good, and the breakfast buffet wasn't much. The rate was around $300 US, and you'd pay more at a number of other hotels. If I ever return to Iceland, I'll consider one of them. But we really liked Iceland overall.

Close to the shopping area but not right in it. The room we had faced the street with 2 big windows. The room itself was extremely small and ok for 1 night. The lock on our door was very hard to unlock and lock from the hallway - it just spun and spun. The room was clean.
I really didn't think there was anything that special about the hotel though.
The staff was extrememly warm and very accomodating when our dates changed last minute due to lost luggage.

Absolutly Great Hotel

The staff at this hotel were excellent, nothing was too much trouble, they called up the tour companies to book us on trips, even the ones that were not the one they were booking agents for, they even called up to see where the pick up was when it was late, without us even asking them to.
The hotel is very modern and stylish, aparently just been renovated in restuarant and reception.
All rooms have FREE wireless internet, which is great if you take a laptop and want to check out tours etc.
The breakfast buffet was also really good. with a wide veriety of tastes catered for, cereal, fruit, toast, breads pastry, biscuits and salmon, prawns, boiled eggs, egg mayonaise and salad all on offer, and availiable daily until around 10am.
Rooms were clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable.
The hotel is centrally located, with the centre just a few minutes walk.

Having arrived in the worst storm for 50 years, we eventually arrived at the Odinsve at midnight to discover it was being refurbed. However the weekend reception staff were fantastic and gave my daughter and myself singles instead of the the twin we had booked. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable, although a little small. The hotel management made sure the builders didn't start work until midday, which was very considerate. The restaurant, also being refurbed, had it's opening night the next night and the food was fantastic. Overall a great hotel in a quiet, but convenient spot. Highly recommend it.
