The Congress hotel is situated by a square on the edge of the old town in Vilnius. This location is convenient for buses etc but this also brings traffic noise, which seems a particular problem in Vilnius where elderly large and noisy cars are common. My room had no bedside light, surely a standard feature in an hotel. I had a single room which had no air-con. This posed a problem as opening the window give problems with the traffic noise. However hotel policies didn't help, a heated towel rail in the bathroom aggravated the situation and housekeeping invariably opened the curtains fully, allowing the afternoon sun bake the room when you were out sightseeing. Of course these high temperatures when I was there are not found for most of the year in Vilnius. On the positive side the Congress offered a decent breakfast and friendly front desk staff.

L’hôtel Congress est situé près d’une place à la périphérie de la vieille ville de Vilnius. Il est bien situé pour prendre le bus et autres. Mais, du coup c’est assez bruyant, ce qui semble être un problème propre à Vilnius où les grosses voitures bruyantes sont courantes. Il n’y avait pas de lampe de chevet dans ma chambre, c’est sûrement le cas de tout l’hôtel. Je séjournais dans une chambre simple qui n’était pas climatisée. Ce qui posait problème car lorsque j’ouvrais la fenêtre, j’entendais le bruit de la circulation. Cependant, la politique de l’hôtel n’a pas aidé : le porte-serviette chauffant dans la salle de bain aggravait la situation et le fait que les femmes de chambre ouvraient entièrement les rideaux, laissant le soleil de l’après-midi chauffer la chambre quand nous étions en train de visiter la ville, encore plus. Bien entendu, il ne fait pas aussi chaud à Vilnius tout le reste de l’année. Note positive : Le Congress offrait un bon petit déjeuner et les réceptionnistes étaient sympathiques.

We booked Hotel Ambassador through Hotels.com but when we arrived to Ambassador they were fully booked and transfered us to Congress Hotel. In Hotel Ambassador we were told that Congress would be a four star hotel, but that isn't the truth. I would say that this is at most a three star hotel. Hotel is situated in the central and only a small walk away from Gedimino avenue (the main street of Vilnius) and old town. Location is good although there might be some traffic noise coming to rooms. If you look the hotel pictures for example from [--] keep in mind that all room pictures are propably from a suite. Our room and bathroom didn't look anything like that. Our room was double room with two beds and a bathroom. Bathroom had toilet, shower and bathtub. It was also equipped with hair dryer. Room was in quite OK condition and it had minibar and TV which didn't work good. Room also had a balcony with a street and opera view. Breakfast was reasonable good and the service in reception was also good. There is a restaurant in the hotel which is open to 10pm and also a free internet computer on the lobby. I would say that this was OK hotel but still definetly not a 4 star. Best thing was good location. Still I think that in Vilnius there are propably better hotels in better location with same price category.

Ok so this place probably isnt a 4 star but thats not a problem as the place is fine! Location is very good, and the rooms are all clean and new (maybe a bit small but I certainly didnt expect a sprawling suite!) The staff were very freindly and helpfull and if I was to return to Vilnius and wasnt looking for 5 star luxuary then would have no problem checking in once again. If you want somewhere clean, modern, well located and good value then you can certainly do a lot worse than the Congress!

Hotel is definitely far from being a 4-stars, equivalent of 2-stars Ibis hotel or so is more adequate, I stayed there for one night, very small room, small bathroom, carpets not very clean, no remote for air conditioned, staff unable to give messages... Really a bad experience...
