I have been staying at the Charlotte Homestead Suites for a little over three weeks now. I have a feeling most of the people who leave good reviews haven't stayed longer than a day.
The hotel is cheap, and for the most part, you get what you pay for. Being a studio suites hotel, this hotel does have some extras: the usual, plus a sink, full fridge (which is nice), small assortment of dishes, two burner range top, and a microwave. However, there are no ice machines (just ice trays), no pool, not much of anything besides what is in the room. The front office is just a small room, next to which is what they call a pantry, where you can purchase various overpriced food items. The beds are fairly uncomfortable (very solid mattresses) and the sheets feel cheap. Overall, my rooms have been fairly clean, but don't count on the dishes being clean when you arrive. Wash them yourself before using them.
As for the staff, some are friendly, however, more often than not, if you need something and call the front desk, they are nowhere to be found. I have also had the staff hang up on me more than once when I called them for a pick up from the airport. This is only after I was there for a while though. They advertise that they have a shuttle can that can bring you wherever you need to go, within a certain mile limitation (either 3 or 5 miles?). However, that shuttle also serves two other hotels, so more often than not, the shuttle will not be available. Usually, if I needed to go to Walmart for some groceries, I had to wait until 10pm or else call a taxi and drop $10 for a timely ride to the store.
So, overall, if you plan on staying for more than a few days, look elsewhere, unless the price is the only governing factor. The customer service is not that good and the rooms are mediocre. I am here on company business, so I have no choice in hotel. Customer service is important to me and is what can make me a lifelong customer or lifelong hater. So, to sum up, Homestead Suites = cheap but NOT a bargain. You are getting exactly what you pay for.

We needed a place near to the airport to stay on our stopover in Charlotte for one night. We saw an ad for the Homestead and when we arrived we were overwhelmed. The place was nicely laid out. The rooms were very nice and extremely spacious and the kitchen area was really good size and lovely.
The area is close to the airport and has some good shopping and food areas around. It is a wonderful place of a family, especially with small children as we had out 1 year old daughter with us at the time.
My wife who is EXTREMELY picky loved it so much that she has gotten hooked on Homestead as here first choice for hotel accomodations.

We stayed at this Homewood Suites hotel while taking our kids to camp. One warning for the caffeine addicted - No Coffee in our room. What a disaster that was. The wife about tore my head off since she is a caffeine addict.
But the hotel was clean and neat and has a full sized refrigerator and a little kitchen. It's not a two-room type suite, basically an oversized hotel room with a sofa (that we used as a sofa bed). We booked through Priceline for $55, but they tacked on $10 when we asked for a queen when we found out we were booked in a double. So at $65 total, we probably didn't get such a great deal. But it worked great for our one night stay.
I have to say, even though Embassy is a much nicer room setup, with these small one story suite hotels you park outside your room, and it's nice not to have to carry your luggage a long way.
