Best thing about this hotel was the shuttle service. I wasn't sure if it was running at 11:00 pm when we arrived, but I called and he was at the airport very quickly.
I had booked my reservation several months ago through their website. Booked a king suite for $116.00. Upon check in we were given a Queen handicapped room. Also charged $189.00. The gentleman that checked us in said he couldn't change the rate, and I would have to fix it in the morning with Amber. Amber quickly refunded the difference and wasn't sure why we were given the wrong room. Since we were there just for the night, I didn't ask to have our room reassigned. Not sure if he could have done it anyway. The room was fairly clean. Breakfast was meager, but that's to be expected in a place that gives you a mini kitchen. The bed wasn't great.
We were just glad that we weren't staying there "extendedly"

This place pretty much was a middle of the road choice. It wasn't plush luxury but it also wasn't filthy, nasty. The rooms were clean and of ample size. They did have a kitchenette if you were staying for an extended period of time. We used it as a home base while on vacation and rarely were in the room. But it did provide a cheaper location to stay at while in Anchorage. The positives were the nice quiet place away from most tourists and the business room for internet useage. The negative was the breakfast. I thought continental would at least offer some juice or milk and cereal, but this was just stale bagels and coffee. If you were counting on the breakfast, don't. Go buy something with taste. Overall I would stay if I needed someplace for one night, but if I was going to be in Anchorage for a week or so, I would look elsewhere.

Stayed at this hotel in March of '05 for a few days. The hotel itself was fine, but on the second day when I got back in the evening, my duffel bag was gone. Turns out the MENSA-level maid thought I had checked out, so she took it upon herself to adopt my bag as if it were her own. After two hours of haggling with management, I finally got my bag back, minus a $40 electric razor and about $30 worth of souvenirs for friends back home. You know what the manager's idea of compensation was? 10% OFF OUR NEXT VISIT. Yea, that still wouldn't equal the money and time lost from this fiasco. The maid should have been fired and we should have been comped for our stay.
I'll sleep in the airport before staying here again.
Good bargain if price is at low end

This hotel must have been recently remodeled because everything seemed new and clean. They had all the expected amenities (fridge, microwave, free breakfast buffet, etc) plus a comfortable recliner in the room which was a nice touch. The TV had more channels than typical. Not much more, but more. Prices obviously fluctuate, but if this is at the lower end of the range when you search through Anchorage, it's definitely a bargain. I stay in Anchorage on business a lot and Extended Stay Downtown was just as comfortable and nice as the higher-end chains.
The only real downside is lack of parking. They have a very small lot, so if that's full you have to use paid parking across the street at about $15 a day. Also they're not exactly downtown but a few blocks away which means you have to walk a bit to get to the "action" around 5th street.
I would definitely stay there again if the price is as low as the last time.

We started off a 2 week vacation in Alaska by spending 2 nites at the Extended Stay Deluxe in downtown Anchorage. We got in after midnite so were ready to crash when we got there! Can you imagine pulling back your blankets and finding dirty, slept-in sheets????? Yuck!! I ran down to the front desk, reported my findings and was handed a ball of clean sheets that had "just come from the dryer". Needless to say, I remade the bed, myself!! From then on, I never really trusted that the place was clean. Never went barefoot, for sure! Upon returning to the room the following evening, there in the corner was still piled the dirty sheets - how disgusting!!! I would not recommend this place to anyone - cleanliness should be the very basic, in MY book!!
