We travel about 70% of the year because we work for a major telecommunications company so we know hotels! This hotel was good for the price, clean rooms but no extras. Crossland is the cheapest of al extended stays so the rooms are very basic and bare. The beds are very small but ok when it comes to comfort. The kitchen has a small fridge. This is a nice clean room but very plain and low budget. Good for a one night stay!

We had booked through Hotwire at the Crossland, Salem North on our first night out on a long journey, as we had trouble finding a good rating in Salem for a moderate priced hotel or motel. Never again! What a way to start a trip! It took us over a hour to find this motel, as it is not in the motel district. Indeed, it is in a district where you have doubts about leaving your locked car for the night! By the time we found it, it was just after 10:30pm AND the hotel manager closed at 10:30, with no bell or other way of contacting them, another feature no one told us about.
We went back to the hotel district where the very helpful person on duty at the Red Lion, a very nice hotel that was fully booked, called the Shilo Hotel across the street. By this time it was almost midnight, but there is a happy ending. Shilo was also fully booked, but had two "no shows" pending. They couldn't release the rooms until 12:15, about a 20 minute wait. Worth the wait. This is a lovely hotel. Their room layout was the nicest suite-style layout we have seen, the bed was super comfortable, the staff was courteous and friendly, and the "expanded" breakfast" very welcome.
Hotwire sent us an e-mail re rating our hotel experience, however, their e-mail URL didn't work either!
Is this rating about the Crossland Salem North or Hotwire? Both!

I was very disappointed with the Crossland Salem. I booked this hotel through Priceline. We were just looking for an overnight stop on the way to visit family. Upon arrival, the front desk staff seemed like they didn't know exactly what they were doing and check in took some time. I was given a non-smoking room, but it smelled of stale smoke so badly that we had to leave the window open. This was a problem since the hotel is right on I-5 and the noise kept us awake. The bed was only a double, but was comfortable enough. The only toiletry provided was soap. No shampoo or conditioner. A coffee pot was provided, but you had to purchase coffee for it from a vending machine on the first floor for $1. There was a small sink in the bathroom with no counter whatsoever. Overall I did not like this hotel and will not stay there again.
