I didn't realize until we checked in that they had confirmed a queen-size bed instead of the king-size I requested. There were absolutely no brochures or pamphlets of any kind in the lobby about local area attractions, of which there are many, including the Biltmore House. The hotel does not provide shampoo or hair dryers unless you request one, and then you have to walk to the front desk to get it. The coffee carafe was not just chipped, it was cracked and I didn't realize it until I had made a pot of coffee. There were only 2 pillows, they charge for the WIFI that other local hotels were offering for free, and there was absolutely no free continental breakfast of any kind. There was not even an ice machine. We would never stay at this hotel again. For the amount of money they charged, and the area it was in, we should have received a lot of amenities and received NONE.

Friend and I planned a weekend trip to Asheville and thought that the Extended Stay would be a nice central location and a decent hotel. The location is excellent but the hotel needs quite a bit of work to bring it up to snuff.
We paid about $100 a night and the first thing we found were two roaches in the bathroom. It was late and the rest of the room looked decent, although the sheets were worn and needed to be replaced. I checked the bed for bed bugs and luckily found no evidence. We decided to stay both nights we had reserved.
The bathroom needed more care, there was mold on the ceiling and there was some evidence that repairs were of the handyman type. But the bath, toilet, and sink were clean.
I'm not sure what else to add, the staff were good enough to give us a discount after we mentioned the roaches ($40 off of each night) and the outside and hallways were clean and well maintained.
We never used the kitchen/fridge, most of the hotels in this area tend to have small fridges anyway so there's no real reason to pay the extra cash. Also the rooms are not as large as they appeared on the website.
There are nicer places in Asheville, and I would recommend staying in one of the other hotels in the area.

This is the third Extended Stay I've been to. The others were great. This one was in pretty rough shape. I checked in at midnight. The front desk closes at 11:00PM so you have to call someone to open the door. The woman was friendly but clueless (and said so). I got my room key and checked out my room: the room was way over sanitized (stinky), 2 of 3 hand towels in the bath were filthy, a "clean" glass in the cupboard had dried milk in the bottom, the carpet in the room was sticky, laminate was peeling off the counter and bedside table, the wireless internet wasn't working and I could heard the TV from next door. I tried to get to sleep for an hour and a half but was distracted by noise and creeped out in general, so I called the Homewood Suites up the road, got a room and checked in there at 2:00AM. In addition to my issues with the room, the hotel seemed worn down: very dirty carpet in the halls, dirty walls, broken tiles in the lobby and the one pop machine in the building was out of order. The most positive thing I can say is that when I went back at 8:00AM to check out the manager noticed I was leaving early and asked about my stay. I gave him my opinion and he indicated that he knew they had some problems to work out but was sorry to hear I had so many. He comped me room for the night and assured me that, as a new manager, he was making improvements. I believe him but I'm still not stayin' there again. Two collegues stayed there for the full week. Both said it was okay for them but won't stay there again on our next business trip..

I was a bit concerned about staying here after reading the couple of negative reviews, but Asheville was booked solid for a Saturday night and the next best option would have been $100 more. I was surprised when we drove up to see a new looking building. The young lady at the front desk was extremely nice. I had phoned her three times the day before to add rooms to my reservation. She recognized my voice as soon as I spoke and pulled my record up immediately. Check-in is listed as 3PM, but the rooms weren't clean at 3:40P. Housekeeping was contacted to clean my room immediately and they came down right away. I made a few phone calls and came back in 20 minutes later to find a spotless room.
This is a very acceptable low cost option. The full size refrigerator was nice. No ice maker, but two ice trays. There was a two-burner stove and a microwave along with a few dishes and a dish drainer. The television wasn't huge, but had a good selection of channels. Wifi was available but I gathered there was a charge. I didn't inquire since I left my computer at home.
There were a few things I could complain about. The only really bothersome problem was the air conditioning unit. Every time it cycled on or off all night, it woke me up (I'm a very light sleeper). I also heard plumbing noise coming from another room, but it might not have been heard if the bathroom door was closed. The towels were not great and the bed was pretty hard.
This wouldn't be my first choice in Asheville, but was fine for the price. The woman who checked me out was just as nice as the one that checked me in. A friendly staff goes a long way in keeping me happy.
