Just arrived back from a lovely weekend break in the Belfry, this was a birthday present for my husband as he is a golfer and I had to tag along!!
We had a lovely room on the ground floor overlooking the 1st tee of the golf course, the room had french doors leading out to the garden/ golf course. Our room was clean with 2 bottles of water left each day fresh fruit (apples)was left on the first evening also, which was a nice touch. There was a some chocolates and a card to welcome us to the hotel too. The housekeeping staff were really good.
Overall the hotel is very well kept, it is a golfers paradise no doubt, there is a fab golf shop not overpriced I dont think.
I booked the fire & ice experience in the spa for hubby he really enjoyed it but did not rate it value for money. ?30 I think. The treatment room was fully booked so was unable to get a booking. The gym is good with ample equipment, the swimming pool is well kept.
Dining, the Antrium is the self service restaurant, steer clear is my advice, I have sampled better food and choice in manys an airport. I was ill the following morning after having a very small portion of the evening meal.It is chaos there, the staff are fairly helpful but I think they were all holiday staff. The choice is so limited and overcooked, the 3 chefs that loitre inside the serving area would need to wake up.There wasn't even a hot fish dish, roast pork, lamb chops, a stew of some discription and a vegetarian dish????
You can upgrade to the french restaurant for a supplement of ?10 per person which I would recommend it was lovely, fab food lovely experience overall. This is worth every penny.
Overall we really enjoyed our weekend my husband can not wait to go back as he really enjoyed the golf. It was very busy with the golf. Will definately go back but not to the Atrium restaurant.

I thought the grounds and the golf course were amazing. When I first stepped in I thought it was a 5* hotel. When I found my room (10 minutes later) the bedroom was small and dark, half the lights didn't work and the bathroom was disgusting it was clear that it was more like a 2*. My first bathroom had cigarette burns in the bath and a scuff mark from a boot. My upgrade was just as bad. My bathroom was so nasty I went to the gym to use the toilets and shower. The showers in the gym were based in the toilets but at least they were semi clean.

I stayed at this hotel recently with work, and on arrival I was greeted by hotel staff, which is a very nice touch. The check-in staff were not particularly friendly, but I was advised I had been upgraded to a Superior room, and I was happy!
After I finally found my room, which was a challenge in itself, I was disappointed with how dated and 'used' it was. Most of the furniture was scratched or dented, bedding didn't fit the bed properly, and the bathroom wasn't clean. From speaking to colleagues, and visiting their rooms, this was common in a lot of the rooms in the Torrance house.
It was such a shame, as the public areas were much better and I was glad to be staying just the one night.
Breakfast was great, and the lunchtime food in the Belfry bar was lovely too. Sam's Bar & Grill left a lot to be desired though.
Overall, not great, but ok - and hopefully the planned changes at the hotel will help it to improve.

We are members of the Belfry Leisure Club and attend two or three times a week. We are used to the niggly problems regarding cleanliness, cold swimming pool, high cost of food and beverages, and lack of faciliteis in Aquaspa working.
We decided to have a one night stay along with four other friends and after eating in Sam's Bar (where the waitress argued with one of our friends - he was right - no apology!) we checked in to our room No 540. On arrival in the room we were met with the loud sound of either an extractor fan or air conditioning so I went back to reception. On my way I met a maintenance man who told me we would not sleep in the room even with ear plugs as the noise never stopped. We were given a second room No 524 and I went to look at it on my way back to the original room. As I approached there was a loud grinding noise in the corridor which was also loud in the room. There was a suited girl with a clip board outside and I asked her what the noise was. She said she didn't know and that it was awful. When I pointed out that it was the second room we had been given she asked me for the key and said she would sort it. Eventually we were put in a superior room overlooking the golf course and all seemed to be well.
Dinner in the Atrium was lovely with a good selection of well cooked food although you need a mortgage to buy the drinks!!
Back in the room we settled down to sleep in a lovely quiet haven. as soon as we got into bed we encountered the first problem - the pillows were massive so you ended up with a crick in your neck and sleeping without a pillow was terrible. After tossing and turning for what appeared to be hours we were then plagued by the heat. The heat had been turned off during the whole of our time in the room but it was baking. We managed to open a window and put a fan on but we had to turn the fan off due to the noise.
Tired and grumpy the next morning we were pleased to find a good breakfast.
We have just been to India and the bathroom in the hotel there was identical to our Belfry bathroom! If Mr Quinn wants a 5* hotel he needs to do a lot of work and research.
