I got a "great" rate on priceline for this room, so I was pleasantly surprised that it was as wonderful as it was. The room was spotless, and the beds were amazing. A fresh duvet was folded at the foot of the bed, so no disgusting bedspread to throw on the floor upon arrival was a breath of fresh air. The shower was great and the extras were better than usual, like sewing kit, face scrub, lotions.. ect. They had in room Wolfgang Puck coffee, yum! I stayed three nights and housekeeping was consistent, and thorough. The only negative is that there is a ten dollar charge per day for wifi, but I didn't mind because I got a great bargain on the room. Free parking was a plus, especially for Tallahassee.

I just returned from a one night stay for a wedding at this hotel. Upon check in you are greeted with a friendly smile and a cookie! The hotel restaurant was excellant, as we had breakfast and dinner. Within walking distance to great attractions! The beds are very comfortable and the hotel is clean and updated.

Took reservation but did not hold it for an adjoining room nor foldout beds. Took separate rroms and had teens sleeping on the floor and in a chair one night. Mgt. still took an hour to unlock the linen closet and provide padding to sleep on the floor. One elevator not working all weekend. Another had us locked in until management could make it work. Poor security, outside doors to each floor out to parking garage open all the time. Management did provide free breakfast due to reservation problem.

The DoubleTree Tallahassee exceeded my expectations. Parking was a snap, even though the spaces in the garage are a little tight. It's $6/day to park yourself - very reasonable in my opinion given the "downtown" location of the hotel.
Check in was a breeze, the front desk was very helpful. I got the room I requested - king bed, non-smoking.
My room was located on the 10th floor. It is surprisingly noisy up here. I could hear more road noise than I would have thought possible at this level. I could hear more than I wanted to from the adjoining room. The walls in this hotel are rather thin.
The room was remodeled and very nice. The bathroom is a little small, but it's perfectly usable. Lighting in the room is pleasant. Both lamps by the bed have separate dimmers.
There was a thermostat which did not work in my room. A window A/C unit had been installed with manual control. This was disappointing but it worked, despite the noise that you would expect from such a unit. I hate these things and didn't think they would use them in a DoubleTree property.
I ate at the hotel bar/restaurant the first night. Service was great and food was reasonably priced. The food was more on the bland side but the bartender did a good job with the mixed drinks.
Overall I would recommend this hotel if your first choice isn't available in Tallahassee. I still prefer the Residence Inn by the school, as long as you get a room facing the parking lot.
I somewhat disagree with other reviews regarding this hotel. It is not in shambles or run down. The elevators work fine. There was a note in the room about them being renovated but the elevators I rode on appeared modern and worked great. I was not concerned about getting stuck at any point.
I think the price per night is a little high for the area, but your choices are limited in this town.

What a disaster - this hotel apparently has been run down for years and no one cares. It is an embarrassment for the Hilton chain.
Among other problems in our early 2008 stay --
Someone was in the first room we were given. Ooops.
Carpets throughout the hotel were worn and stained, and dirty!
No stopper in bathroom sink.
Grout was black and dirty all around the bottom of the toilet...ugh!
Heat and A/C did not work. Thermostat was just hanging off the wall.
Wallpaper in room was bubbling all over; must be a water leak somewhere.
Radio / Alarm clock did not work.
Windows leaked - you could hear the traffic all night long and it kept me awake.
And the coup-de-gras - when I opened the coffee maker in the morning to make coffee there was a used coffee filter in it! Double-ugh.
Stay away from this place.
