My girlfriend and I reserved two nights at Hotel Taylor. After reading all the wonderful reviews for Hotel Taylor, I sure do wish we could have stayed there. Unbeknownst to us, we were ushered into the roach motel next door, The Infamous Hotel Louxor. It was only after discovering red and black stains on the mattress, pubes and hair between the sheets and mold stains on the wall, did we go to the front desk to politely ask for extra clean bed sheets. We feared to tread on the carpets with our bare feet. The clean sheets never came. The cold shower the next morning was the last straw. After the first night, we left Louxor and checked into the Best Western by Pont Maillot, by then we didn't care what it cost. The desk manager at Hotel Taylor never told us that we were staying in a different hotel and it wasn't until after we noticed did he explain to us that Hotel Taylor had utility problems on several floors. Spend the extra money and run far far away from Hotel Taylor/Louxor. We have given up trying to figure out the smell in the lobby. We think it might be the dried out acquarium in the lobby of Hotel Louxor.

Paid about $93CDN per night. Hotel room was good size for the price. Location was OK... 2 blocks away from Metro. Not much to do in the area itself, but Metro close enough to get to the tourist sites. No night life here, a few neighbourhood pubs only.
Great continental breakfast included!!!! Free internet in the lobby too!

I stayed at this hotel in July with my partner and have stayed there every time I have been to Paris since 1994. This, sadly, was the last time I would book into this hotel.
The place always was owned with the hotel next door but reatined its own identity and staff. Now, though, the front desk here is shut and you have to collect your keys and channel your complaints though the hotel next door to it.
Additionally, it had a refit two years ago (2004) and it seems to have gone very badly. Protruding screws at eye level are commonplace as are leaks from the bathroom above your own. All of this may have been forgiven but for the sight of a cockroach in our bathroom two days before leaving. Another one was sighted running across the floor of the hotel when we had breakfast on the morning of our departure.
I said, quite loudly (and in French) that I had seen a cockroach (un caffard) in the bathroom and that I had seen another one in the breakfast room. Not only that but the television did not work and, having reported it, nothing had been done.
One light fitting in our room was hanging off the wall, still with all those French volts flowing throughs its copper wires.
It really is a shame that a good and reasonably central place to stay has come to this. Even though they halved my bill, I will not be returning. I suggest you give it a wide berth until matters have improved too.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights with my girlfriend at we thought it was fine. Let me start by saying that this hotel's bad reviews can be justified depending on your tolerance and what you are expecting. I am 23 and Just out of college with not much money which means that I am not picky and wanted to find somewhere cheap, basically a bed to sleep on so I could spend more money in the nice bars/restaurants in the City. The hotel is extremely basic.Room was ok, clean, had a bathroom which wasn't in the best condition but everything worked so that was fine. Some of the photos showed the ceiling with the big hole in it.that was also there when I visited and was just outside my room but didn't really affect us so I didn't care. Anyone who pays this kind of price for a room in Paris and complains about the room obviously didn't make the most of their trip as it's basically just a bed to sleep in, which is all we used it for.You will spend all day away from your hotel.Staff were friendly and fairly helpful.I'm not going to comment much on breakfast (croissant, tea/coffee,orange juice) because all the French seem to eat is bread and I think that's the same in a lot of hotels so not much to say there. Free internet was handy. There are a few drunks that sleep under the arch just up the street outside the hotel but they're harmless (one of them even wished me a drunken 'bon nuit' ),it might make women a bit uneasy though. Location isn't much but this wasn't a factor for me because the metro goes everywhere.Basically i'd definitely recommend this for students or people on a tight budget but if you want a nice romantic plush getaway then pay up and get a proper hotel because this is really just the equivalent of a hostel.

This Hotel is the most apalling place that i have ever stayed! Aside from other reviews of toilets and mattresses in the foyer and smelly bedrooms; try pubic hairs, needles and squashed bugs actually IN our bedding...it was truly horrific. My friends and i had terrible problems trying to get the staff to respond to our pleas for clean, sleepable bedding...they gave my friend a skanky blanket that i ended up sleeping in cos she was allergic to it. I dont know what they actually do in this hotel, but the lift was out of order (they probably murdered a bum from outside and shoved him in there or keeping all complaintants in captivity not that they would fit by all accounts) and the staff grunted at you all the time. When others say the bathrooms are awful i agree cos mine was simialr to Niagra falls. I only had to brush my teeth and i would get a full scale power shower...In short...RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH...a definite place that needs bombing to save all the poor people that could encounter this hotel in the future...thanks J x
