The most important thing I have to say is, because of the great pool area and other activities, families with children LOVE to stay here. Also, it seems like a lot of large groups of parents and children stay here occasionally, so at times it may be overrun with children (it was for 1 night of my 3 night stay).
With that being said... The Doubletree was pretty nice. Check-in was a breeze, and I even got a warm cookie... at 2:00 AM! The rooms were very comfortable for a hotel of this class. Luxurious mattress, pillows and towels, which are always important to me. In fact, I usually stay at the Hyatt when I'm in Rochester, but I thought this was actually more comfortable.
I would definitely stay here again, but next time I would probably call ahead and ask if there were any large groups staying at the same time.

Everything was great. Hotel is great, restaurant is great, business center is great, pool is great (but not private as everyone can look over the balcony and see the pool), gym is small but good, staff is in typical Hilton/DoubleTree style, rooms are a good size and amenities are great too. I always stay here for Henrietta based business activities. It's about a ten minute drive from the airport, and traffic is not normally ever an issue in Rochester. The only possible complaint is that the single elevator is very slow.

I'm a Hilton Honors member, and a seasoned traveler. I must say my stay was disappointing in many ways. At check-in they gave me a warm cookie, as most Double Tree Hotels do, however it was hard as a rock. I'm sure that thing had been in that little oven for days. Once we got to our room on the 6th floor (for Hilton HH members) the bathtub was half filled and water was dripping... I had to call in maintenance. Another tidbit about the top floor at this property, all rooms have a shared ventilation shaft from the hotel's core. Even with the heating unit on (besides the window) this ventilation was blasting outside-cold-air into the room. Front desk suggest I closed the lid on it... which made for a strong filtering noise, and the cold got in anyways. We switched rooms, and the core vent was still an issue, and this time the heating unit would malfunction with the thermostat clicking loudly a few times when it went on and off. We had to turn it completely off and deal with the cold air from the core vent. The front desk seems very indifferent about my complaints.
The hotel itself is worn down, and has a dirty feel to it. The elevators are ancient, noisy, and slow. Things like the carpeting and floors looked dirty and even sticky here and there.
At checkout the front desk droid just went down an automated list of things to say without even looking at me or acknowledging my answers.
Sorry if the review sounds bitter, I'm just being objective. I enjoy all Hilton family hotels, but this particular property simply... sucks.

This is an old Holidome whose franchised changed to DoubleTree and then went through major, major renovations (bathroom/bedroom/furniture and Common Areas, exterior) a year ago. I've stayed here before the renovations and just after. The transformation is incredible. I am submitting this review in that it has been a year since my last visit to the remodeled hotel and they continue to maintain its brand new appearance; like it just opened yesterday.
Bathroom: granite counters/tiled tub/neutrogena amenities, Bedroom: Comfortable 5 pillow King bedroom has couch and coffee table. Carpets/bedding/seating are still fresh. Wired internet included in rate. Honors Floor (Hilton Diamond Member Status) has Fiji water and Wolfgang Puck Coffee. Common areas are really well maintained. Exercise area has three quality treadmills. Did not use restaurant or bar. Exterior is well lit, plenty of parking and feels safe.
There are only two other hotels in Rochester that I would recommend. The Marriott on West Ridge Road and the Renaissance in Pittsford. All three of these hotels have gone through extensive, down to the studs, renovations and are really nice. I believe the Doubletree has the lowest room rates.
