We went for the 4th of July long weekend. The location is pretty scary and the whole area looks like a ghost town. It is good for people going to the hospital or the cancer institute. Food options are limited. Directions are confusing. We would have never reached if not for the GPS system. The printed maps we had were a total failure. Parking is costly and far off. Also since the neighbourhood is very dicey you need to walk thru the hospital to get to the hotel after parking (about 3 blocks).
For the hotel, first the keys did not work. Then we got that exchanged and found out that the tv had no remote control. asked for one and got a non-working remote. The bath room was not restocked. Not a good experience. We normally stay at Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden inn and have had excellent times but I would not stay in a Double tree in future.

I stay at this location every time I am in Buffalo. I travel there a great deal for work. The Staff is fantastic, food is limited but great, and the rooms are safe and clean.

I stayed here using HHonors Points. It is located next to Roswell Cancer Center and across from Buffalo General Hospital. First of all we asked for an early check in and they took our number and told us they would call. They never did. We arrived back at the hotel at 2:40pm and were told that check in was at 3. OK, so you have no clean rooms and it is 20 minutes until everyone can check in? I do not think so. The front desk clerk was not friendly at all. We valet parked our car and had to give the keys to the desk clerk. No bellman in sight anywhere. We called for our car 20 minutes before needing it and it was still not there when we came downstairs. We ordered room service and it took 1 hour and 15 minutes. The worst tasting room service food I have ever had bar none! The area around the hotel is not a good place to be outside at night especially if you are a woman. No bellman available for check out either. We were put into a room on the 2nd floor after asking for an upper floor. The hotel is worn and in need of renovation. The only bright point of this stay is the chocloate chip cookies at check in. Also they have the old 19 inch tv's in the room.

Room Fine, Other Caveats...

Spent one night here so my boyfriend could run the Buffalo Marathon. Room was clean and large, if a little dated. Hallways were clean as well. For the money, the room was perfectly fine.
A few issues, however- the walls seem to be rather thin, as I was able to make out full conversations when our neighbours were on the telephone.
Other issue was Au Bon Pain. Sunday morning, when I wandered in, there was barely anything available, and a fairly gruff and overworked staff. I waited quite a while to be acknowledged, and when I asked for a bagel, the server put on plastic gloves, then went to handle money in the till before finally grabbing my bagel! As though the gloves were to keep her hands clean and not to keep the food sanitary!
Ew. Anyway, overall, the hotel was fine for a quick visit. Neighbourhood was indeed a little rough, but there's really nowhere to walk in downtown Buffalo anyway, so it wasn't a big deal.

I spent 3 days here on business and found this hotel is grossly understaffed and those that work here are overworked juggling more than 1 job. Tried to order room service and phone was never answered after 3 phone call attempts. Called the front desk to request room service help and no one answered phone.
On the 3rd and last day of my stay, went to their Au Bon Pain restaurant to have breakfast and they were out of orange juice, milk, bananas...one can only speculate why a food manager can't project the hotel's food needs.
Trying to retrieve my car from the valet service took more than 1/2 hour each day.
Agree with other posters that surrounding area is not the safest to walk around.
This hotel is convenient for anyone who has a need to be at the hospital across the street.
Rooms are spacious and clean.
