My husband and I stayed here at the end of April for a long weekend visit to Austin for an event. Nothing special, but the hotel worked for the price and general location.
The room was clean with newer furnishings, but the carpet in the room and especially the hallways could use some updating.
Also, when you close the door, unless you pull it shut by hand, it makes a slamming sound that can be heard by others at the hotel. We could hear the people across from us closing their door over and over again during the wee hours of the morning one day. So, if you are not a sound sleeper, this may bother you.
For business travelers, there was wireless internet, but it cost almost $10 for a 24 hour period. I don't understand why hotels can't just give this to customers for free as an nice perk, especially seeing as Doubletree is for the most part a business hotel from my understanding.
In summary, I would stay here again if I needed to stay in this part of town, but more than likely I would splurge for a hotel closer to downtown because of the atmosphere and available restaurants.

We booked this hotel at the last minute through Hotwire during easter week which was also the spring break week for our kids and we got a great price. To our surprise, this hotel was very very nice and we got our room upgraded to a much bigger room. The hotel has a very pretty courtyard with a pool overlooking the courtyard. The staff is very friendly. We would definitely stay there again. The only negative is that it's right on I-35 which could make rooms noisy.

Needs a redo!

The front desk staff was nice enough and fairly accomodating, especially considering how full the hotel was.
But the rooms........ick. My room (584) looked like something straight out of the 80's. Definetly needs updating and sprucing up. It's a very tired and old looking room.
There were lots of hotels in the area, so there are probably better choices around!
A little rundown, bad location, good hotel

It's a hotel right next to the interstate (I 35). Great courtyard with pool, hot tub under a couple of plants and two levels. Rooms are average size but only 10 channels. Papadeux's Seafood next door has good food at reasonable prices.
