Me & wife (30yo) stayed for a week.
Pros:
- Very close to metro station;
- Ideal central location for Paris hotspots - everything is almost just a walk away!
- Price (75EUR/night; booking.com) worth location and hotel;
- Nice park outside;
- Friendly staff - main admin (girl) perfectly English-speaking and friendly;
- Internally very quiet (it appeared last day that we had neighbours:))
- Clean
Contras:
- no air-condition, and moreover - air exchange at all. Outside daily temp 18-25 but it was airless unless you kept windows opened; Fan did not compensate airlessness;
- next to this - Lafayette is extremely noisy street day and night. It was difficult (very noisy!) sleeping with open windows! (hotel is beside the other street, but Lafayette is close and visible; all windows seemed to be in the direction of street);
- pillows are small and synthetic. Above conditions made head sweat within some minutes....;
- we saw at least 8 (eight!) different admins during 8 days! They all were very helpful, but it looked strange for such a small hotel...;
- it has the MOST EXPENSIVE Wifi connection I have ever heard about - 5EUR/hour;
- public computer downstairs was out of order 6 out of 8 days.
- elevator doors are situated between floors - it is 100% impossible for handicaps to use and very complicated for a baby baggy and bigger luggage owners;
A breakfast tip:
- McDonald?s just around the corner in front of Cadet Metro station offers great breakfast for just as few as 4.50. That?s the cheapest complete breakfast in the area!
All in all - with low expectations and discount from internet booking you can have quite pleasant stay at this hotel.

We booked this hotel through Eurostars Holiday Package deals and were pleased to secure 4 nights for the cost of 3.
The room was on the fifth floor (room 50) and was large for a European room. We had a beautiful view of Montholon Square too.
There was little to no noise from traffic up there (there are 6 floors) I would assume that people whom have voiced concerns about noise with this hotel in the past come from small towns and were on lower floors - I took earplugs in anticipation of a racket but slept like a baby - we didnt notice any noise.
Breakfasts were great - we thought the croissants were fantastic and the coffee and orange juice superb too...
Each room has a tiny TV (maybe 14") but who cares - who watches lots of TV in Paris - what a great city...
The Gare du Nord Eurostar station is literally 5 minutes walk and the nearest Metro station is on line 7 (Cadet) and is just 1 or 2 minutes walk down La Fayette. Incidentally the Metro system in Paris is superb we bought Carnets of 10 tickets which worked well.
Back to the hotel... The rooms were clean and we had a bath with a shower over and a seperate toilet.
If you dont like tight spaces dont try the elevator - it holds 4 people at a push.
The area the hotel is in (Opera) is nice and is opposite a beautiful square/park and a cafe is adjacent as well as pharmacies and 7/11 type stores.
I would advise you to ask (it wouldnt hurt) to get a 5th or 6th floor room as they may be nicer - Im not 100% on this but from what some others have said - the lower two levels may have some more budget rooms?!?!? Like I say our room (50) overlooked the square and was perfect for our needs.
Enjoy the Hotel Williams Opera and Paris!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Williams Opera for three nights in November 2007. We stayed in a double room on the second floor.
As is the case with most hotels in major cities, our room was very small (and a very odd shape). It was, however, clean and comfortable, with a small TV, wardrobe, and desk, which proved more than adequate for a short stay. The bathroom was very compact, with only room for a shower (no bath), but we found it quite satisfactory.
Breakfast was served from 7-10am in a small room in the basement area of the hotel and consisted of coffee or orange juice, cereal, bread or croissants, and small pre-packaged muffins. Whilst the choice and quality was not fantastic, it was one of the reasons we chose this hotel over others in a similar price range, as it saved us from having to buy breakfast elsewhere.
The hotel is located five minutes walk from the nearest Metro stations (Cadet and Poissonniere), and there are several restaurants/cafes and a small supermarket within walking distance.
The one aspect that did bother us about this hotel was its lack of sound proofing in the rooms. During the evenings we could clearly hear other people talking in the neighbouring room and there was LOTS of street noise.
Overall, this hotel did live up to our expectations in terms of both price and location, and apart from our grumbles about the noise, I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a reasonable hotel in Paris.

I stayed one night in this hotel and the one thing that is great about it is its location... You can go on feet to the Gare do Nord, to the metro stations, to the restaurants in the nieghbourhood, les Folies Bergères, ... .
It is ok for one night, the rooms do look a bit old and it is a bit noisy but overall I keep a positive image of this hotel and I would go back.
Very nice breakfast & the staff was very friendly and helpfull. They also speak perfect English!
