Hotel Bel Ami is rated as a 4-star boutique hotel in the Saint Germain district of Paris. Having spent 5 nights in a junior suite, my wife and I consider the hotel to be a 5-star little gem. The location is ideal as it is a stone"s throw from fashionable and lively Boulevard Saint Germain,upscale restaurants,art galleries,shops,museums,public transportation and the river cruise. It is a bustling, lively area but the hotel is soundproof, modern and has a home-style atmosphere. The hotel staff is simply superlative.They go out of their way to be helpful and every request is attended to in a friendly and efficient manner. The concierge is very knowledgeable and communicates in excellent English ( as well as French). The breakfast buffet is included in the price of the room and is sumptuous with a variety of hot and cold dishes. The staff in the dining room seems to outnumber the guests because they remove dirty dishes, refill coffee cups and clean the tables instantly. Newspapers in every language are available free of charge in the dining room and in the lobby. Are there any negatives about the hotel? The standard (deluxe and superior) rooms are small. The junior suite (room 118) is the ideal size with a small but useful sitting room, a beautiful bathroom with 2 sinks, a separate bath and shower and a plentiful supply of towels. The room is cleaned as soon as you leave in the morning and the turn down service in the evening includes fresh towels. The price for the junior suite is considerably more than the standard size room, but certainly not expensive by Paris standards and was well worth it for us.

The Hotel Bel Ami was excellent...very clean and hip and contemporary hotel. The previous reviews were very accruate. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. The rooms are small but very nice and clean. The Concierge service was 5 star and we used them alot for guidance. The location selection was prefect. There were several cafes and shops near the restaurant and a nice jazz club 4 shops down. In Paris, we did the L'open Tour hop-on-off bus so getting to see the sights was easy. The weather was around 60-65F. I walked to the Musee D'orsay which only took about 10 mins at slow pace from the hotel also.

My girlfriends and I stayed at the Bel-ami hotel for 3 nights and loved it. Its a fantastic location with very friendly staff, especially the concierge who was very helpful. The rooms are a little small, like the rest of europes hotels but the comfortable beds and clean rooms make up for it. The breakfast provided was lovely filled with yummy pastries and local cheeses. A great little sitting area with a bar in the foyer is great to meet for a drink to either start your evening or end your evening. Great way to end our trip and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as our stay was a very pleasant stay. Irene Australia
