Stayed here three years ago and it was okay so we thought we would return. Seemed quite a bit more run down. Upon entering our room we found a "note" stating that the Memphis police department had sent out an alert that there had been a lot of car break ins on the parking lot. If we had known this before we would have never made reservations. We stayed this far out of Memphis so we wouldn't have these problems. And from the other guests that stayed at the hotel, at least I hope they didn't just walk in off the street, it wasn't that much different then the heart of Memphis. We are fans of Elvis, but we really didn't want to live out the song, "In the Ghetto." There is a gate across the driveway but nothing keeps people from walking in. There is a rundown Waffle House on the same parking lot, so who knows who's walking around your car. I kept getting up at night looking out the window.
The bed was super comfortable, as to the fact that we got a suite. It was quiet too, being that we requested a room not adjacent to Sycamore View. We found a open box of condoms in the side table drawer, and one used condom. This means the rooms aren't cleaned well. The cover for the pull out couch was ripped, and the sheets looked like they had just been shoved back in the bag. There were sunflower seeds on the floor, which are hard to pick up with a vacuum cleaner. There was hair on the shower wall, as if it had been cleaned but not rinsed off. Other than these things, it was adequate.
The breakfast was good, as it is in all Drury's although I never saw an attendant. The swimming pool was small but okay. The hot tub had excessive bubbles in it, just like a bubble bath, but not nearly as pleasant. The staff was there. Not friendly, not rude.
There's a McDonalds, Perkins restaurant, Taco Bell and other restaurants nearby, although after reading the crime warning we didn't walk to any of them. Also, there was so much dog feces on the grass that it was hard to see the grass. Nasty!
Will never stay at this Drury. Will stay even farther out of Memphis, maybe at exit 16 off of Hwy 40 in Germantown near the mall.

I see that another reviewer stayed around the same time I did, and I find that my stay was completely opposite of theirs.
My room was quite noisy (there was a church group of kids staying all around my room) and I called the front desk and they switched my room right away... with MANY apologies (even though they have no control over screaming/laughing preteens).
Both rooms that I stayed in were VERY clean (I inspected up and down after staying in a motel 6 a week prior EW!) and the staff was SO nice to us and our dog. The manager asked how my stay was every morning, and every evening when we came in we were greeted politely at the door by whoever was working (including security guards and the cleaning staff). Breakfast was good-- eggs, waffles, sausage etc. and there was always someone there refilling the food, cleaning up, helping with the waffle makers etc.
I admit that it is not in the best area... the econo lodge across the street SCARED me, but there were so many people staying at Drury Inn, and it was well lit WITH security every evening, so I did not fear for my safety at all. It was mentioned that there was a sketchy Waffle House next door... ALL waffle houses are sketchy.... and my boyfriend and I actually went to eat there and the staff was REALLY friendly. No problems no complaints.
There were people who do not pick up after their dogs, but that is not entirely the hotels fault, pet owners need to be responsible for things such as that.
We stayed here because we had a dog traveling with us and we needed somewhere in memphis that accepted pets and wasn't over $200 a night (like some of the places downtown). There was also no fee for our dog which was nice.
I had a great stay and there were no problems that I encountered that the hotel didn't fix!

We stayed at this Drury Inn while sightseeing in the Memphis area. This is a very busy area located directly off I40. The Drury advertising promotes staying "where the extras aren't extra." While there may be a lot of unexpected extras such as complimentary evening snacks and beverages, free local and long distance calls, there is nothing really remarkable about this hotel.
The rooms are basic and clean at first glance. Closer examination revealed a lot of dust and dirt around the entertainment center area which houses the tv, refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. There was also some trash behind various pieces of furniture. The carpet seemed a bit worn and bathroom towels were quite thin. Beds were clean and basically comfortable.
Breakfast was very busy and almost too much for the hotel to handle in this small space. Drury Inn breakfasts include a variety of both hot and cold items and are generally somewhat better than most basic hotel offerings.
Parking at this location is gated and secure. Despite some shortcomings, this hotel has an excellent, friendly, and very attentive staff. We also noticed this Drury Inn accepts pets.
If value and price is at the top of your list, look no further. I will probably be looking elsewhere when returning to Memphis.

Good location for visting Memphis

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a spring break trip with our children ( age 11, 14). This was a good location for visiting Memphis as it right off of I-40 and close to the 240 split. We were checked in quickly and efficiently. We enjoyed our spacious 2 room, king suite. Nice to have the extra room for the kids and there is a bedroom with a king bed in it with TV and a door that seperates the bedroom from the living area with the pull out sofa.
We did have some problems- the sheets for the pullout sofa were in a plastic zip bag in the closet. I pulled them out and they had hair on them and the blanket was dirty. That was unsettling- so i politely called the desk and they apologized... 40 min later.. the show up with new sheets and blankets. These blankets had 2 cigarette burns in them... but we dealt with it as they were clean.
Pool was cold but supposed to be heated, entryways and windows needed a good cleaning. The breakfast was very nice but they were constantly running out of things. If you are patient and have all morning, that is one thing~
Overall, the extras Drury provide are nice- free soft drinks, free wine/.beer/mixed drinks and chips from 4-7 each night, free hour of long distance is great. But this Drury needs some attention in customer service. The rooms were very quiet,. which we were pleasantly surprised. Beds were comfy and plentiful pillows!
Great location!
