We were in seacrh for the perfect resort that caters for both non-skiers and those that ski & board. The non-skiers gave the resort a big thumbs up. Plenty to do. Lots of walking, plenty of shops and restaurants, and there is also a fantastic pool complex in the middle of town for all the family. For the skiers and boarders the experience was ok. For beginners, it is very limited. For the intermediates there is plenty to practice on. For the advanced, it was also limited. There are two main areas including the Classic ski area and the Zugspitz. The latter is high and the snow good, but too many drag lifts. Beware if you are a boarder! Otherwise, both ski areas can be covered in a couple of days. The hotel however is superb. We had a suite for two families. Ample room! The hotel food was excellent, especially the breakfast. The evening meals were also top quality and we didn't feel the need to eat anywhere else. The hotel has a fantastic facilities including tennis courts, spa facilities (too expensive for my liking) and a pool (which unfortunately was out of order the week we were there!!) Also, the hotel is not more than an hour and bit from Munich on a very direct route. Overall, it is a great location (and I imagine it will be perfect in the summer with access to many tourist resorts in Bavaria) but not the ideal resort we are looking for as a winter location, mainly due to the limited options on the mountains. The search for the ideal location continues, but you wont be unhappy with the Dorint.

Wir waren vom 17. März bis 24. März 2007 in diesem Hotel. Das Wetter war unglaublich, erst viel Sonne und dann tonnenweise Schnee, ein wahrer Traum! Jetzt zum Hotel: Wir hatten Vollpension gebucht und waren mit unserem 13 Monate alten Baby unterwegs. Unser Zimmer war riesig: ca. 60 Quadratmeter, zwei Badezimmer mit Badewanne. Die Möbel und die Einrichtung wirkten relativ alt, waren aber gut instand gehalten und blitzsauber. Wir hatten eine kleine Küchenecke, wo wir die Mahlzeiten für unser Baby zubereiten konnten. Zum Essen: Alles war sehr gut und gesund: frisches Gemüse, frisches Obst und alles perfekt von einen sehr guten Koch zubereitet. Alle Angestellten waren sehr nett zu uns und dem Baby, sie waren hilfsbereit und höflich. Das Fitnesscenter ist toll und wunderbar ausgestattet, das Schwimmbad und der Wellnessbereich (mit 2 Saunas, Hammam und einem Jacuzzi) sind ein wirkliches Plus, wenn man von einem Ski-Nachmittag ins Hotel zurückkehrt. Das Städtchen Garmisch ist niedlich und es gibt viel zum Unternehmen, wenn man nicht Skifahren möchte: Besuch von Partnachs Klamm (eine Art Canyon der wunderschön im Schnee aussieht), Ludwig von Bayern's Schlösser (Neuschwanstein, Linderhof). Wir hatten einen sehr entspannenden Urlaub und werden im nächsten Jahr wieder zurückkehren!

For those who want to experience a most excellent spa/sport hotel with fabulous bavarian breakfast buffet served daily, this hotel must be experienced to be believed. It is truly a 4 season hotel, and boasts on site a fabulous Aqua-Fit Spa Sauna with full sized Roman Themed swimming pool complete with relaxation rack (bubbles included). The weather here is just outstanding with the cleanest air in all of Germany. The hotel also boasts 10 indoor tennis courts with pros that offer tennis college, as well as a beauty farm for massages, peelings, manicures and pedicures, not to mention faciials. You can even walk from your room to the Spa/sauna in your robe using the hotels underground tunnel system.. this is really handy in winter when there is a lot of snow outside, or during the summer, when you would feel self conscious wanling around in a bathrobe outside! In any case, our family had a wonderful time at this resort, and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a prime quality relaxing spa treat experience in a most lovely, beautiful environment.. the lovely bavarian alps...

We've booked this hotel for one week from March 17th to March 24th 2007. Weather was incredible, plenty of sun at first, and then tons of snow, a dream ! Now about the hotel : we stayed on a full board basis, with our 13 month baby. Our room was huge : about 60 sq meters, two bathrooms with tub. The furniture and decoration were quite old, but very well kept and spotless clean. We had a litlle "kitchen corner" that we used to prepare meals for the baby. Now for the food : everything was good and healthy : fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, cooked to perfection by a very good chef. The whole staff was lovely to us and the baby, helpful and polite. The fitness center is great and fully equipped, the smimming pool and spa (with 2 saunas, hammam, and a jacuzzi) are really a plus when you come back from a ski afternoon. The town of Garmisch is very cute, and there's many things to do around for those who don't ski : visiting Partnachs klamm (some kind of canyon : beautiful in the snow), Ludwig von Bayern's Castles (Neuschwanstein, Linderhof...) A very relaxing holiday for us, we'll definitely go back there again next year !

We loved this hotel, they were very accomindating especially since we had a dog with us. Nice rooms, beautiful scenary and delicous food.
