Hotel tranquillo, ottima...

Paris is difficult: expensive, often not very clean, and VERY big. I'm glad I found Hotel Cyrnos because it is a good place and I'll go back if I have to go to a hotel. The place is smallish, a family hotel with no restaurant but a good breakfast provided in the morning. Staff is exceedingly kind, always helpful and ready to be of service.
My room under the eaves was big and sunny. The bathroom smallish but adequate with new fittings. A big wardrobe (not fancy but clean) with a safe; a good bed and mattress, nice leather armchair, big round table, good chairs; everything on the solid side rather than elegant, bus that's all right.
Two big plus for me, since I was there working as a journalist: the wi-fi internet access in the hotel working pretty well, and the flat screen TV with satellite channels.
Cleaning was accurate (even if my hours were erratic and sometimes I didn't leave the room until early in the afternoon). I have a problem with carpets: never feel at ease with them and am sure they're anti-hygienic, but don't think it exists a hotel with no carpets in the whole of Paris.
Sometimes the towels smelled funny (a common problem, again) but the bed linen was always ok and both were changed every day.
Word for the American friends: they're putting in air conditioning in every room this summer.
A room is about 130 euro per person but you get a discount if you're staying more than 4 nights. By Paris standards, it's good. Add to this that I love this bit of Paris. Boulevards Poissoniere and Montmartre are always very animated at night, the underground is close ("Grands Boulevards" station is less than 5 minutes from the hotel door), it's choking full of restaurants, close to other areas of the center even walking, and, well, not too touristy. All in all a grand little place.

The Cyrnos Hotel was fantastic. Centrally located only a few Metro stops away from the Gare du Nord. Rooms were clean and comfortable with Flat Screen TV and Bar Fridge. The fridge was fantastic as you could get groceries from the store on the next block. Great little Lounge Bar accross the road! Towels were replaced daily. The staff were absolutely brilliant, recommending the best things to do in Paris. Small elevator...
