We had a wonderful stay here. Our trip to Paris would have been a disaster had we not decided to leave the hotel we were originally booked at and go looking for another one. The service here is above average and the area is very welcoming, with shops like Dior on the very same street. (Do try the macaroons at Laduree!!) Everything is within walking distance. The subway is about a 2 minute walk and the Pont des Arts (very charming pedestrian bridge), Samaritaine Department store and Louvre Museum are within walking distance as well. Thanks Richard, for giving us a great deal on our room!

This was my second stay at Hotel St. Germain des Pres. The location couldn't be more perfect. The hotel itself is quaint and justifies its 3 Star rating.
I liked the hotel much more the first time I was here. This last time however, one of the staff members in particular was arrogant, rude and not very accommodating. Beware!
She had no customer service skills and was always "tres occupee" to assist us.
I have seen the last of Hotel St. Germain des Pres.

This hotel came highly recommended to us by a friend who had lived in Paris for several years and had also personally stayed at this hotel for six weeks. Our six day stay here was overall a really good one minus a few minor issues here and there. What’s great about this hotel is its location. Saint Germain des Pres is the coolest neighborhood to stay in if you are going to Paris – especially if this is your first trip. Multiple people recommended we stay in this area and after seeing it I understand why. It’s a great neighborhood for walking around, tons of cafés, restaurants and places to shop. Romantic streets that twist and turn and everywhere you look something interesting to see. The hotel is one block from the Metro stop and one block from Café Deux Magots. It’s a ten-minute walk to Notre Dame, the Seine, Latin Quarter etc. It’s a perfect location for romantic walks in the evening. The area is very safe day and night. We had a superior double room (number 53) which was cute but small. Still, nice view of the street with two sets of windows that opened up, air conditioning that worked, a remodeled marble bathroom and a great bed. The mattress and pillows were really comfortable. The carpet was worn and needed replacing but otherwise the room was spotless. Our room was a bit dark however even with the lights on. Make sure your room rate includes breakfast (coffee, tea, croissants, bread and cheese – extra for juice or eggs) – you’ll save about $30 because Paris prices for coffee and pastries are crazy expensive. Everyone who worked in the hotel was really friendly, spoke enough English if you don’t speak French, and clearly wanted your stay to be a great one. Gay couples will feel comfortable here. Only issue I had with the hotel was that I was told on day one there was no iron and we would have to send our clothes out to have them professionally ironed (at a price of 10E an item!). This was really annoying and when I checked out I recommended they have at least one iron that guests could use in the office. I was then told that they DID have an iron and board we could have used! Overall I would stay here again provided breakfast was included and would recommend this hotel to anyone else.

This was our third stay at this hotel it was originally recommended by friends who travel to France frequently since he is French and now lives in the states. The hotel reminds me more of a bed and breakfast or inn instead of a hotel, it is small and quaint and all the rooms are decorated differently. The rooms are clean, and the bathrooms have all the modern conveniences. The location is perfect, within walking distance to many of the must sees, including Notre Dame, D'Orsay, Louve, etc, and the shopping and restaurants in this area are out of this world. Very basic breakfast with croissants, sweet breads, cheese, jelly, very strong coffee or hot chocolate. The staff is incredible, very helpful and informative. We will return over and over.
