a trip to paris, on the new eurostar from st pancras, london - this hotel made it perfect. lovely, unique, characterful, elegant, a bit quirky - everything i want from a hotel. the location is just right as well. everybody working there was helpful: my single room came with a shower, which i hadn't realized when booking - they sweetly upgraded me (low season) to a double, with a lovely bathroom, and even a separate wc. the off-white/touches of gold colour scheme with visible beams make the room feel inviting. the breakfast room is like a gay friend's flamboyant living room, filled with antique/briq-a-brac finds. the breakfast itself is simple (french) but finest quality. i had food poisoning (not from food in the hotel!!!) and was brought mariages freres teas and sympathy to the room. altogether wonderful and recommended

Great boutique hotel. Fantastic location, great (US-standard), friendly service, very clean. Rooms small but air-conditioned and very well decorated. For the price, it's unbeatable - highly recommended.

My husband and I just completed a five-day stay at the Hotel Louis II. We booked on venere.com for 140 euros, a great price that got us the least expensive room, a double with shower (no bathtub).
We loved our room. It was, indeed, small, as other reviews have mentioned, but it was cunningly laid out, with very clever use of space. A small desk was tucked up next to the wardrobe, a glass-topped table served as both a bedside table and an extra place to sit, etc. The furnishings and carpet all looked new, and the room was immaculate. The bathroom was brand new and gleaming white. The shower was not huge but had excellent water pressure and a dual hand-held/bar-held shower head. Amenities included nice toiletries, a minibar fridge (with enough extra room to put a couple of small items of our own), and a hairdryer. No iron or ironing board, which we didn't miss. The only potential problem with the size of the room was that the bed (which was very comfortable, by the way) was a true double, not a U.S. queen size. We are not large people and don't mind a smaller bed, but other couples might feel cramped.
The service at the hotel was wonderful. The staff at the reception desk were extremely polite and cheerful and spoke excellent English. The cleaning staff did a marvelous job and were patient about accommodating our odd sleeping hours for the first few days, when we were terribly jet lagged.
The hotel's location simply cannot be beat. The neighborhood is full of marvelous restaurants, shops, and a great wine shop/bar just around the corner on Rue Lobineau. The Odeon metro is steps away. The Louvre and Notre Dame are easy walks. Don't miss the Musee du Moyen Age at the Cluny abbey, very close by. It's free and it's amazing!
The next time we are in Paris, we will most certainly stay again at the Louis II.
