2 Star Stay

Stayed there during Labor Day weekend.
Here is what I didn't like about this Days Inn Norfolk Hotel.
- Free Breakfast consists of Coffee, Apple Juice, OJ, packaged muffins, bread-slices, apples, bananas, and 2 kinds of cereal. That's it. Found myself walking down the block to the McDonald's for a decent Breakfast.
- The Hotel reimbursing the beach fee is misleading. They will repay up to $7, but will only repay fee for an individual beach once. So if you go to VA Beach twice during your stay you only get reimbursed once.
- The bathroom in your room is very small, cramped and dirty (moldy tiling). Water in the tub didn't drain, by the end of your shower the water reached my ankles.
- Bath towels are small, and they only give you 1 each per person plus a couple hand towels.
- While we were there the Free Gym they rave about was closed.
- The pool is on the smallish side, but nice. Only goes up to 5 feet deep. No lights on, to swim at night.
- The front desk didn't have any local maps to supply us, you need to bring your own.
- Be careful, our pillow cases weren't the cleanest in the world. Dirty spots on them.
- Be leary, in Virginia you have to pay a City Tax, State Tax, and Norfolk Lodging Tax with your hotel bill. I had no idea of this before hand.
- Free Internet access is not as easy as it sounds. The front desk gives you a password you have to access on your computer through the Days Inn Website, you have to set-up your laptop to comply with their Internet connection. If you don't know how to do this find out before hand. The desk employees have no clue.
- Parking is very cramped. Be careful...
- Not in the best neighborhood, you get what you pay for. If you want a $60 a night, hotel then this is the one for you.
What I enjoyed about this Days Inn Norfolk Hotel.
- The house-keeping staff is very friendly.
- Located right on Shore Drive very easy to find.
- The beds are nice, very comfortable, pillows are plump.
- TV has ESPN, ESPN2, HBO, etc. No ESPNEWS if your a sports fan like me.
Don't Stay Here -Days Inn Pull This Franchise

This is my first review I have written and felt compelled write so nobody else would stay here. DAYS INN should pull this franchise !! I stayed here because my company booked it for me, I should have turned around and left right away. First of all the lights are very dim (maybe a good thing) and the one over the sink would not come on at all. I took down the cover panel twisted and turned the bulb and it finally came on. There was a chair and desk but no light near it, so I had to move the desk under a wall light to see to good enough to do some paperwork. The bathtub had hair in it. The carpet was VERY dirty and did not even appear to have been vacuumed. The motel advertises truck and bus parking but I could barely make the turn into their lot and if there had been many cars there I would have not been able to get in it at all. I looked around for a truck parking lot before trying to drive to the rear of motel, there is none. The rear of the property butts up against what looks like public housing divided by an 8' chain link fence. While parking I observed 5-6 young boys scaling the fence. There are security cameras everywhere and you will probably need them. The staff was polite but not very professional.
Solid Days Inn

The hotel is certainly not spectatcular looking from the outside, but my room itself was very large and spacious. Bed was okay, not super comfy. Everything appearred clean and the bathroom was fine. Wireless access in the room was decent - I never lost the signal, though it did get weak at times.
I had no issues with the staff, though my room was not cleaned the one day I was there - perhaps due to me being in my room fairly late into the day.
Location is not terribly convenient to the highway, but there are plenty of amenities nearby - from fast food to supermarkets to bars.
Overall, a good value for what you pay for it.
Hated It!!!!

The rooms were nasty and the air conditioner did not work. Management was very unprofessional!!!!! Stay away from this hotel...You will not be happy...Check in was at 2:00 and my room was not ready until after 4:00. The area was not safe. A few cars were broken into.
My ratings for this hotel are:
4.0 Value
2.0 Service
3.0 Rooms

Great Hotel

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was excellent service. I stay here every year and it keeps on getting better. They recently made it a franchise which made it even better. The rooms were great and the housekeeping did a good job cleaning them. The front desk was very helpfull. I loved the new decorated lobby. The pool was enjoyable with the gym right next to it. It was very safe. Most of Norfolk's bases are close by and the Oceanfront was only 20 some minutes away. The breakfast was great and had expanded from my last visit. I reccomend this hotel to everyone because its great!!!!!!!!
