The good stuff first. Days Inn has a great location, just round the corner is Dongmen Street, where you find lots of shops and eating joints. The room is fairly large and roomy, so are the bathrooms. The place is generally quite clean. This is why I would never come back. The day I checked in, we noticed there was this horrid sewage smell in the bathroom. House keeping came to check it out and said they'd solved the problem. So my family happily went out shopping thinking we'd be able to come back and have a good night's rest, problem resolved. Lo and behold, when we got back, the smell was worse than ever! We called house keeping for help but the fellow only came back to spray some freshner into the trap. Sure that helps, for 5 minutes! We called the Reception for a change of room and they said sorry, peak season, no rooms left at all. No doubt this was during the Lunar New Year, but surely they'd have at least 2 rooms spare somewhere?!?! Needless to say, we couldn't use the bathroom at all. We had no choice but put up with the sewage smell. Determined that we would not spend another night in this horrid room, we went down to the Reception first thing in the morning and requested for a change in room. After a very long while, they said they'd put our request on hold and could only confirm after check-outs in the afternoon. We moved all our belongings to a family member's room, for convenience of moving. We were on a tour package, so we had to leave for our day's programme and would only get back in the evening. When we got back to the hotel in the evening, surprise surprise the Reception had no clue of our request!!! After a long while taken to call the morning manager on duty and a check on the availability of rooms, they reluctantly upgraded us for free to the next available room. I'm not even being fussy about the room, just requesting for a decent room that doesn't stink like the sewers. They could have done way better. This disgruntled (and paying good money!) customer will not be back.

As this was our first time with Days Inn we were upgraded to a deluxe room, which was very spacious. Because we were very pleased with location, clean rooms and price we ended up booking this hotel at the end of the trip. Used elong to book- most effecient. Location is close to the subway ( very easy to use) and just around the corner from the Dongmen Market, which we found more enjoyable than the Luohu commercial market. Really enjoyed the restaurant across the road from the hotel.
