i was hesitant to stay at this hotel after reading all the reviews
but I was pleasantly surprised with my stay. My room was in the "east wing" and it was somewhat of a walk - allthough I have stayed in hotels where I walked further to my room not to mention
had to take stairs, was clean, comfortable completely renovated, new linen, carpet, drapes, bathroom was very nice, all in all it was
tastefully done. Our prime rib dinner in the dining room was excellent. The fitness room is somewhat limited but all equipment was ifunctional. Did miss the pool. The free continen
tal breakfast was very good and the waitress was very friendly. The front desk staff were great and funny. I did enjoy my stay and would reccommend this hotel.

Checked into this hotel for an overnight stay in Timmins. My experience started with the staff at the front desk being very sarcastic while explaining how to get to my room. I was in the "newly renovated"(yea right) East Wing. To get to this room you have to get an elevator to the first floor, walk down 2 hallways to get to another elevator to get to your floor. This is not a fun walk when you have 2 large suitcases full of Arctic gear.
The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The internet signal was very weak and didn't work in this room. The shower curtain rod was loose. You could tell where they tried to do renovations, and you can still see remnants around the door and the air conditioner where shotty work was done.
The continental breakfast was pathetic. Basically your choices were cereal or stale croissants. This had to be the worst selection of a continental breakfast I've seen.
I travel through Timmins due to work once a month, I won't be staying here again. My stay was scarred from beginning to end.

Don't go expecting any recreation. Pool is closed, and will stay closed. They have a small cardio gym in basement, although the locker rooms and washrooms are also closed downstairs. Place from the outside looks like it needs a facelift, peeling paint on exterior of building. Staff is courteous enough and rooms are ok. Free breakfast is nothing to write home about however.

I was first assigned a room in the east wing. It's quite a crazy maze to get the room ... and I was only on the second floor! Up the elevator by the lobby to the first floor, then you have to drag your stuff waaaay down the hall and around the corner to get to another elevator to get to the room. Madness!
There was no Internet (though they advertize free high-speed).
And no hot water.
And it was very noisy as my room faced onto Algonquin. Big trucks barrelling down the street woke me up at 6:30am ... and I'm usually a heavy sleeper.
Since I had to stay in Timmins for the week, I called the HoJo to see if they had a room for me (and they did).
To give Days Inn another chance, though, I asked t to be moved ... and they put me in another room in the main building ... so just the elevator by the lobby.
Much better.
There was Internet and hot water. And so much quieter. Yay!
It takes about 20 tries 'til the passcard opens the door. That's frustrating.
I didn't have a problem finding a parking spot in the underground area.
The free movies channels (TMN, etc.) was a nice surprise.
The pool is permanently closed. The fitness centre is a joke.
Surprisingly there aren't many places to eat nearby, considering it's on the outskirts of the business section. Don's Pizzeria, supposedly Shania Twain's fav pizzeria, is across the street ... and sucks! London Cafe, a couple doors down, is a good Chinese restaurant, though. There is a liquor store and Macs across the street.

I was booked in the old East Wing, they are undergoing renovations so the place smells of paint. The restraunt is very nice. I won't stay here again....
