The Hotel is a good 3 stars hotel.
Location: Versailles is great! We have been to Paris many times, often to visit friends. We usually stay in central Paris, so this was a nice change. Versailles is very historical with interesting buildings. we took a morning walk round the back somewhere and discovered a nice big pond (not sure if it is part of palace grounds) which was pleasant suprise.
i note that some people had problems with parking. we arrived late on friday night, round 10 p.m and again on saturday night and found parking nearby.
Room: very clean, quite small but ok. actually the bed was quite small as well, fairly comfortable. bathroom very clean, though the shower cubicle only had shower curtain which meant the bathroom would be wet after a shower. but as it is a tile floor, it will be dry in the morning. shower pressure was quite good. decor is quite boring, but at least not horribly traditional ( i perfer modern decor).
Staff: most were courteous, a couple of them not exactly friendly.
We would definitely stay in versailles again, but i would probably choose another hotel. A good place if you just want somewher to lay your head.

We stayed here after spending time at Les Etangs de Corot just outside Versailles and 10 minutes away by car. The difference was marked.
Admittedly, Residence du Berry isn't as expensive, but it has some major issues. Parking is a nightmare. Especially if you are trying to drop bags off, or leave your car out front. And you have to feed the meters every two hours if you are lucky enough to get a spot.
The room was like a 70s nightmare - all formica and bad furniture. It's a real pity as the public areas (breakfast room, billiards room, small bar) are actually quite nice, and the hotel location is great.

Assuming that your main reason for staying in Versailles is to visit the chateau, you would be hard pressed to find anywhere more convenient and comfortable at a reasonable price. If you can't manage French several of the friendly desk staff have good English and will book some nice restaurants within walking distance. Don't expect a porter service, and this is not five-star accommodation, but you're not paying five star prices either.
Pay and display parking in the street outside if you can find a space, and it's free overnight. I disagree with the contributor who said the French make two cars fill three spaces. They're much more likely to cram three into two spaces, with all that this implies. A better and safer bet is the underground cathedral car park a couple of blocks away.
Buy your passport for the chateau at the tourist office and save some money, although this won't avoid the queues at busy times. The grounds are free and our best encounters with French cuisine were (midday) at La Petite Venise in the royal park, at the end of the Grand Canal nearest the chateau. Be prepared to walk many miles to get the best from the chateau and its grounds and expect years more of renovations which may affect access to different areas. Even so, you will not be disappointed.

I stayed here for a week in August while my husband took part in the Paris-Brest-Paris cycle event. Having read some of the reviews we were concerned over the apparent lack of parking at or close to the hotel. We need not have worried. We were able to park on the street almost outside the hotel and being August, parking was free for our whole stay!
The hotel was great and I felt very comfortable being there on my own. The slight downside is the lack of restaurant and being August many of the restaurants (and shops) were closed. The breakfasts were good, served in a small room or the conservatory area. Both coffee and croissants were much better than many of the French hotels I’ve stayed in.
The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area and only 10 minutes walk from the Palace and other tourist sites. It’s also close to the main railway stations making a visit to Paris very easy.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Stayed in the apartment (suite plus conecting double) for four nights with husband and mother in law. Suited us well. Hotel is modern in design, comfortable and although not spacious has everything you need. I liked the outside staircase through the courtyard to the suite but it was super weather!
Parking is a problem, particularly for dropping bags. There is a pay and display carpark just across the road which we used to pick up but like all parking in Versailles you would be lucky to get a spot later in the day. The underground carpark does exist now, follow Cathedrale Parking. It is very clean (even has toilets!) and for longstay parking is comparable on price with the open air chateau parking 10 mins away.
Overall this is a very convienient place to stay in easy walking distance of the chateau and local restaurants. If you want something different try the Lebannese restaurant in the rue de satory. I would stay here again.
