Walls are nothing more than rice paper, and the entire place absolutely reeks of cigarette smoke. It’s a small hotel and I understand that there will be some odor coming from the smoking rooms but this was ridiculous. The carpet in our room was not vacuumed since the last guest, if even then. The TV remote did not work. Because we checked in rather late the TV wasn’t a big issue.
The desk clerks asked how our stay was at checkout. I mentioned the carpet/odor/TV to her , she never made eye contact or said she’d pass the information along. Why bother asking the question if you’re just going to ignore the response. The only positive thing about this hotel is it's close relationship to the interstate.
We'll try another hotel the next time we're in town.

The two nights we spent in Feb. 2007 were comfortable. Our grandchildren loved the pool. The motel is older but a good value. The rooms were clean and neat. The comp breakfast was not much to speak of. Overall, we'll stay there again.

About the only good thing I can say about this hotel is it is easy access off I94. The carpet had a huge dark stain of I don't know what. The whole place reeked of cigarette smoke. I had a non-smoking room and it still reeked of smoke. So did the hallway. The juice for breakfast was mostly water. Whoever manages this hotel needs to look into some sort of better ventilation and cleaning. I will never stay there again and will tell all I know the same.

I stayed at this Days Inn for a 4 day stretch in August of 2005. I had business in nearby Menomonie, and I wanted to stay closer to Eau Claire because there is more to do there. My review is not a knock on Days Inn. I've been to Days Inns before, and have always found them to be clean and affordable lodging. The Days Inn Eau Claire West was disgusting, however.
Upon check in, I learned that the pool was not working. There was a sign posted on the front door, so at least they were up front about it. To their credit, the pool was working the next day.
I requested a non-smoking room. I was given a non-smoking room on the first floor. When I walked in the bathroom, I noticed black mold COVERING all 3 walls. I requested a room change, and I was granted one, again on the 1st floor. When I walked in the next room, I glanced at the bathroom walls, but did not see any mold. It was not until the next morning when I was getting out of the bathtub did I notice lots of black mold behind the toilet.
When I returned from work, I requested another room change. They gave me another room on the first floor. I walked in the bathroom and again, there was mold all over the walls. I again requested a different room, and was given one on the second floor. Finally, a bathroom without mold. The difference was the room on the second floor had a bathroom fan.
I told the front desk staff about my problem. Not once was I given an apology. The answer I got from the front desk staff about the mold problem was, "Well, they would have to take off the toilet to get to the mold." SO WHAT!! Besides, that's not even true. Mold was covering the majority of the bathroom walls.
Breakfast was modest. It was complimentary, so I'm not going to complain. My problem was that the seating area was held in the bar area, which stunk like stale cigarettes.
My department had already paid for the lodging, so I could not leave and go anywhere else. When I finally checked out, I called the Eau Claire County Health Department reference the mold issue. I also contacted Days Inn Corporate about the problem. About a month later I received a letter from Days Inn Eau Claire West. They offered me a 25% discount if I ever wished to return. No thanks, you can keep your discount. I'm never returning.
