Booked the Day's Inn using the coupon in the Winnipeg Free Press TV Guide for $44 US night - Sunday - Thursday (on a Sunday) and the experience was TERRIBLE!! First of all, we requested a non-smoking room and got stuck in a smoking room on the second floor- which just reeked of cigarette smoke. When we complained to the front desk the girl gave us a can of orange scented air freshener as the remedy to the solution. The second problem was the room itself. It was filthy. You could see all the dust on the lamp shades & bases, around the beds etc & the room had clearly not received any kind of good thorough & proper cleaning in some time (despite their big claim that they've been recently "renovated" - which translates into some new tiles in the lobby area and that's about it). Syrup from the continental breakfast had been spilled all over the carpet, and when we walked on the carpet in our bare feet, they were completely black and all sticky... disgusting!! Complaining again got us nowhere, so we checked out the next a.m. (gave the proper notice as per their policy), but despite this, they refused to give us back our money for our second night. We called the head office of the Days Inn upon return to Winnipeg and also got nowhere other then them mailing us a letter stating they'd give us $5 off of next stay there. Never again!! Don't waste your hard earned cash people. There are plenty of hotels listed in the TV guide with rooms around that same rate that are 10X better. We stayed the second night at the Travel Lodge, which is/was 10X cleaner, nicer and offered the same breakfast as the Day's Inn, but with a much nicer eating area (tables to eat at with tv's to watch, newspapers to read etc). Check out the Travel Lodge instead - we've stayed there a half dozen other times and always had an excellent stay there for the same price!

O.K but a little overpriced...

The hotel room was clean but the pool needed a bit of attention. Pool by the way is really small. We were happy with the size of our room and the fridge/microwave in there as well. We called for extra towels (no rush) and they were in our room 5 minutes later!! :-) Continental breakfast was delightful and it was refreshing to see something besides prepackaged iced pastries to choose from. Overall, good experience but perhaps a bit overpriced.

We were then down to Grand Forks for a girls shopping trip.
We stayed at the Days Inn on Wednesday and Thursday. We paid $45.00 US for 2 queen beds. The motel is location within walking distance of Menards on 32 th Street just off the interstate. There are lots of restaurants around.
The room was very clean. The bathroom was very small.
The motel was very quiet at night.
The free breakfast was 2 types of cereal, juice, and toast. There was also coffee and tea. There was also fresh waffles.
The only down side to breakfast it was finished by 9:00 am.

There is nothing spectacular about this hotel. The location is convenient but so are all the other hotels in Grand Forks. I made a reservation for 3 nights and was hoping to be able to switch to the lodging on the air force base after that. The first morning we were there, we checked in and shortly after went to the base. We found out they had openings the next day. We notified the front desk clerk that we would be checking out the next morning which he said there was no problem (within that 24 hour required notification period). We checked out the next morning and signed the charge slip for one day. They continued to charge us for the remaining time despite this and my phone calls notifying them of the erroneous charges. In fact, the woman we spoke to yelled at me that I broke the rules by checking out and they charge everyone for their full reservation even if it's canceled. Great service. Their breakfast consists of waffles or doughnuts. That's it. No frills in the rooms. No extra pillows were available as well as no extra towels to go with the 2 supplied. We had no elevator to get us to the second floor. Due to the over charging (which of course, I have disputed with my credit card) I would never stay at another Days Inn again.
