Hotel Cristall in Vienna

The description on the site seemed nice but the reality was terribly diffrent. Hotel Cristall doesn't deserve it's three stars, and it needs immediate renovation. For starting, the first impression is that you go back in time, in the 80's. The entrance in the hotel is dusty and dirty and the reception hall (even if the receptionists are kind) looks unclean and unfriendly.
Although the bed linen and the towels were very clean, they seemed to be old and used. The room had a TV with a damaged screen, the images were divided in three colours: red, yellow, and blue. From three heaters only one was functional. Nevertheless, the breakfast buffet was ok, diverse and tasty. Luckily, Vienna offers so many things to see and to visit that you don't stay much in the hotel. You just go there for sleeping... still, if you are looking for a cosy low budget hotel, Cristall is not the place to be.
For its credit I will add it is situated in an area close to the centre and to Hundertwasser house and it is easy to get from there anywhere in Vienna.

We stay in this Hotel 4 days.
Just arrived troubles with checkin.
The receptionist says to me that the double room booked for 2 adults and my son (2 years old) is too small to give hospitality to 3 people... although I booked a room suitable for 2 adults and 1 child as specified in the form submitted on the online reservation.
Then, after my protest, the receptionist give us a double room suitable for 3 people... but no third bed available for my child and price increased (+ 15€ per nights).
I was very tired and I accepted the room.
Big mistake!
A railway near only 20 m. from the windows of my room; trains 24h a day... I think that all rooms are affected by this heavy noise. Not only my room!!!
So, be careful if you don't want a nervous breakdown.
Finally... troubles with the bill when I check out. (They don't consider the account paid because I change the room....).
Truly a bad experience! In my life (34 years) never seen a similar thing!

This hotel is located in a noisy area being on large heavily traveled street, walking distance from the train tracks and an amusement park (music and trains late into the night). These thing may be out of their control, although airconditioning would help as you would be able to close the windows, others are not. They seem to be in the process of renovating the property which it badly needs. The bathrooms are small with an uncomfortably small shower and in need of renovation not to mention a good cleaning. The room was small and the elevator was old and very small, not for the claustorphobic, we took the stairs. Halls are dark, lights are supposed to come on as you approach but do not always work. To their credit I must say the have a nice breakfast buffet and dining room.
