Was not impressed with property, rundown and breakfast was not good. Staff was friendly, however. Would not stay there again.

This motel has a 5 sunburst rating from Days Inn. If this is an example of their best hotels, forget it! The carpet in the room felt slimey and turned my feet black instantly when I walked from one end of the room to the other. The room was very dimly light, and that's probably a good thing! The coffee pot was filthy dirty and totally disgusting. The countertop in the bathroom was also filthy dirty. This room gave me the shivers! I don't recommend this hotel or this chain. I will never stay in another Days Inn. If this hotel received their highest rating, one can only imagine what their hotels are like with only sunburst.
My only recommendation is to stay away from this hotel and this chain!

I booked a stay at the Days Inn in Topeka Kansas online. I was confident that the hotel would be decent based on the photos and "five-star Days Inn rating". Upon check-in I noticed that our room was filled with fresh smoke, coming from the hallway - despite the fact that the room was "non-smoking". I also noticed that the bedspread was filthy and had something crusty on it. I contacted the front desk and explained the issue - they clerk claimed that she did not have access to "clean" bedding. So she offered to switch comforters with another room. The "replacement" comforter was equally filthy. Awhile later we noticed that the toilet would not flush and was cycling on and off. We decided to relax in the whirlpool which was moldy smelling - so much so that the swimming trunks reeked of moldy smell after they dried the next morning. After returning from the pool we had the biggest surprise yet - a luke warm shower! I complained to the clerk about the coldish shower and she replied... "I tell the management, but they will not turn up the water temp... other guests complain regularly". Upon talking to another guest - who was staying there for several weeks - he confirmed that the water was cold every single day! So, I called the toll free number for Days Inn to inquire why this place was given a 5-star rating by them... and they sent a report of my complaint to the management - who then proceeded to confront me in the morning. They asked me to call back the toll-free number and tell them the issue had been resolved - and in exchange they would deduct the $7.00 pet fee from my bill. The management explained that their "5-star rating was very important to them". Bottom line... stay elsewhere!

Nice & Clean Days Inn

We haven't stayed in a Days Inn for several years; but, chose this one in West Topeka, KS on a recent trip. It is not too far away from Interstate 70. The room was nicely furnished and clean. Staff was accomodating on a very busy weekend.
