I have had good experiences with Days Inns elsewhere in the country, which is the reason I booked here. I was attending a conference in Vancouver and was forced to spend 4 nights at the hotel. I couldn't change hotels - nothing available within a two-hour bus ride to the conference venue for a price my employer would pay.
I felt the hotel was misrepresented on the website - amenities and services were promised and not delivered.
Negatives:
Sleeping area - tiny and crowded.
Bathroom - cramped with absolutely no heat unless the door to the sleeping area is left open. The vanity is about 3 inches from the toilet.
Cleanliness - my travelling partner had an infestation of ants in the room.
Closets - small point but annoying - few hangers and many of these were broken.
Food and beverage service - nothing. Website advertises tea and coffee in lobby - nothing there. Website advertises many restaurants within walking distance - all Asian. Walking distance must mean something else in Vancouver -- the closest White Spot was over a mile away. But there is a McDonalds next door if you like fast food for breakfast, and if you ask nicely, the front desk clerk will give a coupon for a whopping $4.00.
Front desk - one clerk very helpful, the rest condescending and patronizing.
Travel - expensive cab rides from any attractions
Postives:
Cost - good value for Vancouver
Noise - rooms were remarkably quiet
Courtyard - there is a beautiful courtyard filled with flowers and shrubs. Someone looks after the gardens with love.
Travel - good bus service to most attractions
Will I stay there again? No. Will I suggest anyone else stay there? No.

Tried to make a reservation on line with BCAA and could not get a confirmation. Phoned the property and talked to an obnoxious person who gave me a price much higher than the BCAA price. When I asked to talk to the Manager, I was put on hold several times with the excuse that the Manager was busy. After some time it became obvious I was never going to be connected to the Manager. I wrote the parent company who passed me back to a desk Manager who ended up giving me a discount to stay there. My stay was one of the worst. Old run down room with pipes banging and yelling in the night. The stairways were blocked with house keeping carts and it was next to impossible to get by them to the room. When I inquired about another date, I was given a price them shortly after, she (Desk Manager) told me the price was going to be higher because they were busy. Over all, the staff suck, the rooms are old & run down and I would not recommend it to anyone unless you can't find a room at the "Y".

The hotel was overall OK and cheap but we had some problems.
The coffee machine in the room was durty and in both rooms there were a strong unpleasant smell of some chemicals that they must have used for cleaning. Despite of what they say in their website it takes you at least 40 minutes by bus to go downtown.
My children bought a nice stuffed otter at the wonderful Vancouver Aquarium. They forgot it in the room (100%sure) I called them asking to mail it back to me in Wisconsin (offering to pay for it) but they said they did not find it. Not a big deal: I bought a new one at the aquarium website and I told the children it was the same one. I just think it was really unfriendly.
Decent place

We stayed here for a week while visiting Vancouver. Like others have said in their reviews, the beds are extremely comfy! The two double bed suites are quite cramped, and nothing is wheelchair accessible, but it's very clean, noise wasn't a problem either. Our tub had a very clogged drain which was taken care of right after I mentioned it to one of the very friendly cleaning ladies. Contrary to one of the other reviews posted, it's in a good, relatively "safe" neighbourhood, one or two hookers isn't a big deal compared to what's downtown. I lived in Vancouver for a year not too long before this trip and a hotel in a scary neighbourhood would be something like the Budget Inn on East Hastings, or anything near and north of the Main Street skytrain station.
One thing I was very impressed with was the cost. I was able to book online at the hotel website with an advance purchase discount, came to around $69-75/nite, no cancellations and your credit card is billed in full up front of course, which I was fine with. I found the cost to be about right with the quality of the accommodations when going with the online reservation method, but I wouldn't stay here without reservations as it's $90+/nite and you don't quite get your money's worth with the 2x double bed suites.
Most of the front desk staff could use some customer service training however. The lady who checked us in was lovely, gave us a call a bit after we settled in and made sure everything was to our liking. I only got to see her a couple times throughout my stay though and had to deal with everyone else who were basically just crabby every time I was at the front desk.
Overall, I'd stay here again with an advance purchase discount.
